This review is from: A Vegetarian Sourcebook: The Nutrition, Ecology and Ethics of a Natural Foods Diet (Paperback)
This is a classic by the author of The Lost Religion of Jesus. Both books are must reads for vegans and ethical vegetarians. The intro was written by Peter Singer. Though written in 1983, it is still as relevant and up to date as when it was published. It makes a great apologetic tool for animal rights workers. There are sections on nutrition, meat related disease, ecology (soil erosion, water, land use, energy etc), history of agriculture, social & political implications, vegetarian ethics in philosophy and religion (from the Greek thinkers to Buddha and Jesus), the history of vegetarianism, recipes by Jennifer Raymond and an appendix on becoming vegetarian. Excellent. Highly recommended.
