5.0 out of 5 stars delicious and quick!
This was my second veggie cookbook and I use it all the time. Simple, easy to find ingredients, most recipies are about 30 minutes to make. Has both menu plans and individual recipies. nice illustrations too. thanks!

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat Satisfied
This is a fantastic book, however, the covers were rather bent up and scraped. Also the binding creaked when you flipped thru the pages. The inside of the book was in good condition. The seller said this book was in very good condition but I would say it was only good condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a cookbook like no other, April 4, 1999
By A Customer
I have the original, published in 1984, and not only is it a fabulous cookbook - it also makes for interesting reading. The illustrations are wonderfully witty. Nava Atlas is simply the best. If you love to cook and enjoy reading cookbooks you won't find a better one that this.

This was my first vegetarian cookbook, and it was a great introduction to this style of cooking. Nava Atlas is a funny, talented writer and the recipes work. Not too complicated, but not bare bones either, I will always have a copy of this book around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Childhood Memories & Rediscovery, September 21, 2009
This review is from: Vegetariana: A Rich Harvest of Wit, Lore, and Recipes (Paperback)
I grew up with my mom cooking quite a few recipes from this book- the pictures especially bring back vivid memories as I cook from it. There are many recipes she never made that I am discovering now. The recipes are hearty & challenge the idea of vegetarian "rabbit food." I think it is especially relevant these days, because of these reasons:
Health, economy & enviroment all benefit from reducing the ever present meat in the American diet.
Simplicity & room for invention, because so many of the women of my generation seem intimidated by cooking.
Contemplation of ones food- in eating & cooking- are encouraged by the pictures and philisophical musings in this book.
Highly reccomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have loved this witty book of delicious recipes to death!, April 15, 2009
This review is from: Vegetariana (Paperback)
The book is literally in shreds. You won't find better or easier recipes (M-m-m-m-m - asparagus soup!) that are truly vegan, plus the graphic artist author includes illustrations and amusing lore to illustrate every page. For example, Babe Ruth says scallions cure a batting slump; Ben Franklin vows that "onions will make even heirs and widows weep." Very easy to read and to use.
