These books do not reflect a biblical worldview. The last page of one says "You can do anything you want to do!"

I cannot imagine that Phil Vischer approved the wording. We will either sell these or throw them out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of books for infants and toddlers, August 16, 2007
This review is from: VeggieTales I Can! And So Can You! (Big Idea Books / VeggieTales) (Hardcover)
I Can! and So Can You! is not one, but four die-cut board books packaged together. Featuring Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber, Junior Asparagus and Laura Carrot, each book focuses on a different way God made us special. The main character shows things he can do, be and learn then encourages readers to think of what they can do because God made them special, too. The titles reveal the focus of each book.

Bob: I Can Do Many Things!
Larry: I Can Be Me!
Junior: I Can Have Fun!
Laura: I Can Learn!

All four books conclude with Psalm 139:14 -- "How you made me is amazing and wonderful!" (NRSV) These books are easy to read, thanks to short, rhyming verse. Like everything from VeggieTales, they are filled to the brim with vibrant colors.

What I Like: My kids LOVE these books! We got them for Isabel's first birthday. Now, more than two years later, she can "read" them herself (or to her little brother) because we've read them so many times together. The length is perfect for infants and toddlers. Each book has just the right amount of silliness with a valuable lesson. I also love the sturdiness of these books. They've survived two kids in my house. That's something spectacular.

What I Dislike: Nothing. Though, it would be great to have the same done for other characters like Pa Grape or Madame Blueberry.

Age Appeal: Infant through preschool. (Amazon lists this for much older kids, but I think they're best for kids under 4 years of age.)

Overall Rating: Excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous for Little Ones!, November 3, 2009
This review is from: VeggieTales I Can! And So Can You! (Big Idea Books / VeggieTales) (Hardcover)
This product was a real treat for our family! We purchased them when we saw that each of the 4 books were created like the VeggieTale characters. My young childrened LOVED them! They are simple enough that my little ones will actually sit still while I read the text. Yet, for such simple books, each one has fun, rhyming wording that also has a terrific message! Each book has a cute, different way to celebrate who God made everyone to be!

Don't buy these expecting a big story line - because that's not what they are intended to be. I would say they are great for ages 0 to 3. They are fun to drag around, great for the car, your kids will ask you to read them over and over again and you won't mind because they are so darling and make you laugh! The pictures are hysterical. I've never seen a better product for this age group! They are just FANTASTIC and well worth the money!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected..., April 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: VeggieTales I Can! And So Can You! (Big Idea Books / VeggieTales) (Hardcover)
I bought these books for my almost 3 year old. She likes to pack them around because they are shaped like the Veggies tales, which I think is neat, but they are very simple books with very few words and no real story to them. Overall, I thought they were very lame and I would not have bought them had I known.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, November 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: VeggieTales I Can! And So Can You! (Big Idea Books / VeggieTales) (Hardcover)
I purchased this book for my two year old because he (and my husband & I) really enjoy Peas and Thank You. We were very disappointed. It's a very simple book, that doesn't really have a method to it. I didn't get the feeling a lot of effort went into this book.
The only Veggie Tales book we have found acceptable is Peas and Thank You.

I gave this as a present to my 3 year old niece who loves Veggie Tales. She went crazy over this book. It is done in a cut out design and is so cute! Veggie Tales books are not easy to find. I recommend this book highly for children in this age range.
