5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Magazine-Cheaper at VEGNEWS.com
I first picked up this magazine as I was becoming a vegetarian and it gave insightful advice on not only foods, but politics, places and groups. An excellent resource and fun read at the same time. Amazon.com usually has the best subscription prices, but this time it would actually be cheaper to check out their website @ www.vegnews.com for a $20/year subscription.

Take a look at the larger picture if you don't
believe me.

The magazine currently has blow-in cards with
a $20 subscription price WITH a pint of ice creame.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Vegan Magazine, April 10, 2006
This review is from: Vegnews (Magazine)
This is a fantastic vegan magazine with lots of articles on the vegan lifestyle, animal protection, vegan book reviews, movie reviews and recipes. It's also a good source for lots of vegan products. I often read a review of a new food product and end up at Whole Foods buying it. This is a substantial magazine, about 100 pages or more lately. It's been around since the year 2000. I read it cover-to-cover as soon as it arrives and have ordered back issues from their website. It's one of those magazines I save and can't bear to throw or give away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best veg*n magazine, January 10, 2007
This review is from: Vegnews (Magazine)
VegNews has way more vegan recipes than any other veggie magazine (especially Vegetarian Times.) It's creative and a fun read. If you're vegan - or just seeking healthy recipes and ideas - this is the magazine for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vegging Out, March 8, 2011
By
This review is from: Vegnews (Magazine)
VegNews is a publication mainly aimed at vegans, unlike Vegetarian Times (1-year auto-renewal). VegNews also focuses primarily on political issues- from animal rights (Animal Liberation: The Definitive Classic of the Animal Movement (P.S.)), championing pop culture vegans like Jonathan Safran Foer (Eating Animals), Ellen DeGeneres, and Oprah pal Kathy Freston (Veganist: Lose Weight, Get Healthy, Change the World), as well as taking on LGBT rights. In a single issue, one can read about the terrible conditions of factory-farmed animals, find a recipe for Thai jungle curry, and how animal rights are connected to gay marriage. It's intellectually engaging. A recent issue compared veganism with Buddhism. It IS food for thought.

Since they're based out of the Bay Area, they have Healdsburg's own Will Tuttle (World Peace Diet: Eating for Spiritual Health and Social Harmony), Colleen Patrick-Goudreau (Color Me Vegan: Maximize Your Nutrient Intake and Optimize Your Health by Eating Antioxidant-Rich, Fiber-Packed, Color-Intense Meals That Taste Great, and feature the vegan chain of Cafe Gratitude (I Am Grateful: Recipes and Lifestyle of Cafe Gratitude).

VegNews doesn't have as many recipes or product recommendations as Vegetarian Times, but they compensate with spirited philosophical and political debate. Food for thought indeed! It's delicious and nutritious.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are into health, you should enjoy this magazine, March 24, 2007
This review is from: Vegnews (Magazine)
This is a great magazine. It has articles about what vegetarian foods to eat. It gives ratings on which products are delicious and which ones might be healther to eat. Even the ads are all vegetarian-friendly. It even has an article this month about which type of flowers might be toxic to buy and which ones are not toxic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny, November 1, 2011
This review is from: Vegnews (Magazine)
I am a huge fan of VegNews Magazine for many reasons. For starters, it has extremely important and relevant information for anyone looking to learn more about vegetarianism and veganism. In addition to amazing recipes, VegNews contains articles that pertain to animal rights, health and the environment. There are great question and answer columns, product reviews and articles that pertain to the latest research in veg nutrition. Even the ads in VegNews are informative. I have found many veg, animal and environmentally friendly products through ads for various products, stores and websites. Although VegNews appears to be more costly than other magazines, it is worth every penny. I keep all my past issues for reference and for the amazing recipes. If you are vegan, vegetarian, concerned about your health, animal welfare and the environment or even just like to cook new foods, this magazine can't be beat!
