This is a nice little scanner. I've used a few slide and negative scanners, and this is by far the easiest to use. The bundled software is excellent. Although the device doesn't require a driver, it does require this software. As you slide the negative through you see a live view, then, once the image is centered, you click the scan button. The scanning is almost instantaneous, and the quality is perfectly acceptable. It does an excellent job of automatically adjusting brightness, and the scans always seem to be in focus. The bundled software lets you easily adjust color balance.

This is the only scanner I know of that will do 110 negatives. The 110 quality is pretty mediocre, but that's not really the scanner's fault, as indicated by the good quality of the 35mm scans. There just isn't much to work with in that case of 110. Still, it's better than nothing. And I was surprised to find that the negatives had held their color pretty well for 35 years, compared to the completely faded prints of same. This scanner is definitely worth the price.

I received the Veho VFS-002m scanner for Christmas a few days ago, eager to get to work scanning decades of old Instamatic 110 negatives. The Veho VFS-002m is one of only a handful of scanners to include a tray for 110 negatives. It's a pity, because the film holders are this scanner's best attribute. With the bundled Arcsoft scanning software, and using a fairly new Core i5 laptop, scans of 110 and 35mm negatives were both very speedy. People who complained in their reviews that the scans were slow should try putting some money into a faster computer. The scanner itself isn't doing a bit of the processing. In fact, as near as I can tell, it just backlights the image for a photo sensor. The film holder must be manually slid from image to image. Not a deal breaker, especially since it does scan quickly with a fast processor, but it does make lining up the image a little tricky.

The main issue is that the image quality that you get in your scans is not good. I have an older, but very high quality Minolta Dimage III scanner which I typically use for 35mm slide and negative scanning. I was hopeful that I'd be getting a scanner which, while maybe not quite as good, would be in the same ballpark - using newer, cheaper technology. Not a chance. Even with relatively large 35mm source material, the Veho VFS-002m only managed mediocre image quality. The lighting is uneven and small details, like faces, are a pixelated mess. Larger details and backgrounds are recognizable, but this isn't scanner which will let you archive your old photos. It's fine for scanning old photos to email or post on Facebook, but the image quality just isn't there to produce acceptable prints. With 110 negatives, the problem is much worse since the source image is about 1/4 the size of 35mm.

I received my Veho Slide and Negative Scanner for 35mm and 110 Instamatic Negatives (VFS002)on Friday of last week. Wow! I am really impressed with this little device!
It's the answer to my dreams and prayers! I have hundreds of 35mm and 110mm negatives
and slides from the 1960's and 1970's, and I've scanned more than 200 images since
this past Friday. I really love the black and white scans! I rate the scanner as excellent, and I recommend it to all of my friends and family! Thanks Veho! Your scanner is great! Thanks Amazon and J&R Music and Computer World for the excellent service!

I am basically low tech - I also was looking for a product that can convert both 110 & 35 mm slides so that I could create power point programs. From the time I opened the box, inserted a disc, read the directions & scanned my first 3 slides "to try it out" it took me 20 minutes. It is very easy to use & the quality is good especially considering I have some old, scratched slides. Probably, the only fault is the tray is rather flimsy - but for the price & ease to use, I'd rate this a 5

One word for this scanner is "AGONY"!!! First, let me say that the scanned slides are "moderately acceptable", meaning that you do get a fairly clear although dark image; better that nothing, I suppose.

That said, if you have 1000 slides, it could take up to 50 hours or more to scan. I don't know if the problem is strictly software (ArcSoft Media Impression - yuk!) or a combination of software and hardware, but in the few scans that I could stand to do, it took anywhere from 15 seconds to over 3 minutes between scans. This is the time required to recognize the next slide in the tray, if it does at all. Many times you must exit "Capture" mode and restart "Acquire" mode in order to see the next slide in the tray.

Another negative, ArcSoft's necessary "Acquire" mode expires in 15 days and costs $9.99 to activate. Other features can cost as much as $19.99 each - an absolute rip-off.

All in all, I consider this a very poor choice for anyone with even just a few slides to scan. Stay away!!!

Works well with both 35mm and 110s but they all seem to scan a little to dark. Would have been nice if unit had an adjustment for this so you would not have to
manually correct all the files.
