This battery backup is light, small and convenient when it comes to size. That's where all the good features stop.

The output of this thing is 500ma and a usb port plugged into your laptop/computer will charge at 700ma. What does this mean?
Lets do some math:

Galaxy s3 has a 2100mAh battery (this product has a 2200mAh battery) so you can fully charge the phone once..

2100/500ma = 4.2HR to fully charge
Additionally, the input on this is also 500ma - meaning it takes 4.4 hr to fully charge
With the numbers above, that's only in best case scenario. In the real world figure 10% slower of a charge.

The product also doesn't have any indicators to show you the % of battery that is left.
The charge will be unable to charge your phone while using it, have gps or Bluetooth on? Your battery will still die as you are "charging it" with this.
Where this battery will come to good use is if your battery is completely dead and you need a charge. With the phone still off, plug it into the battery and throw it in your glove box. When you're back from shopping you will be fine.

You're better off getting a anker or monoprice battery , something that has an output of at least 2A so that you can use the phone while its charging and the battery will still be charging. Yes, it's a little more expensive (30 vs 20) but at least it works and isn't useless.

Some people might be asking "but the only time I want to use this I'll be desperate". The thing here is, if you are out working "in the field", weather for work, or playing a GPS game (like Niantic Ingress), its very important to always be plugged in when you don't have the luxury of a car charger.. or wall charger.

I bought it for an upcoming trip. I tested it briefly before the trip and it seemed to work. On the trip I realized that it only charges for about 5 minutes before quitting out...every time. The thing doesn't work. Unfortunately by the time I went on the trip, the window to return it had expired. I recommend buying another product.

Since then, I got a part replaced and now it works fine.

This product worked twice and charged my iPhone from about 5% to 80%. After that it simply wouldn't work any longer. The third time I tried charging it the blue light stayed on for days and never turned red to indicate charging completed. I had hoped maybe it held *some* charge, but upon plugging it into my iPhone it didn't do anything. Repeated attempts haven't worked so it's apparently dead.

i was disappointed at first and thought it was defective because it wasn't working. I realized that it wasn't charged when it arrived. It took about 7 hours to charge and now it is working well on the iPhone

This one did not seem to charge my smartphone. It just kept connecting and disconnecting which actually drained my battery more. I've tried several on the go chargers just like this ranging in prices and they all seem to disappoint. I'll try it again when my phone dies 100% and see how much of a charge it gives but as of now I am not impressed.
