More About the Author

Tracy began writing in an effort to assure herself that hearing voices in her head was a GOOD thing, and also to give her something useful to obsess about.

Oddly enough, it turned out that many of Tracy's bad qualities were actually conducive to a writing career, including but not limited to: playing God, eavesdropping, a fine memory for odd details but no recollection of the day's schedule, a penchant for drama, a fondness for watching people who don't know they're being observed, eating while working, daydreaming, and insomnia.

With an outlet for her insanity and excuses for her shortcomings firmly in place, Tracy plans to continue writing novels. Check out her website at TRACYMACNISH.COM

5.0 out of 5 stars A Historical Romance Fan Read, October 12, 2005
Tracy MacNish is a name to remember for future historical romance reads. This novel has everything a good old fashion historical romance needs. The heroine & hero are strong characters with complex circumstances and mean villians that weave into their relationship. You can't put the book down. You will have a sleepless night, so make sure you have time for this one. It is worth making the time for. So bring out the tea, put the kids to bed, and curl up with this enjoyable historical romance. What a thrill to have a new writer give us what romance fans need. A great story to not only take us back in time, but away from the realities of the modern stressful life. It a simple formula, but has worked for generations - boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl. If you don't like this one, then you just don't like the real romance genre. I am reminded of Bertrice Small, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, and even Danelle Harmon comes to mind. Tracy gives it to us all. Can't wait for her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing., October 10, 2005
Unlike the other customer review, I found this novel to be a breath of fresh air. Not only is it well researched and well written, it will keep you up at night in order to find out what happens next.

The characters stay with you throughout the day- I found myself telling the story as if I have knew them, or it was a movie I had just seen.
Most fiction books I read end up dusty on a bookshelf. Veiled Promises on the other hand will stay off the shelf and in the hands of of all my friends so I may discuss and re-live the story again and again.

Bravo to Tracy MacNish for writing a great story that does not fall under the same old boy meets girl cotton candy novel, but actually makes you think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic writing - a sweeping story, January 3, 2006
By
Karen (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews
This author has a gift for writing - her skills are beyond what one typically sees within this genre. While the relationship between the hero and heroine are the central backbone of the story, it transcends being a 'romance'. It's truly a great historical novel. Not a fluffy or light-hearted tale, I relished the realism. No sappy fluff or predictable storyline here. I highly recommend you take a chance and read this book.
