This was good and well written. The female finally decided to go after her man and he hurt her feelings--I really felt her pain and shame. He seemed a little slow on the uptake, but he made up for it. Loved the way he charmed the mom and how she caught them. First book I have read by this author and look forward in catching up on her others.

After enjoying Alisha Rai's Veiled Desire, I couldn't wait for the second story, Veiled Seduction. It's always fun to revisit memorable characters, see how they have evolved, and share in the story of those who have yet to find love of their own. In this installment, the reader is introduced to the super-sexy Sasha and his best friend Maira. Their attraction has always existed, but they've kept their desires and wants to themselves. It takes a dangerous shootout that places Sasha in the hospital -- where Maira is also an attending physician -- for them to reevaluate their feelings and take a chance on love. It's not an easy transition, as Sasha is afraid of ruining their friendship and Maira has placed so much time and dedication into her profession that neither is certain of how to approach their flourishing feelings (nor the sexual aspects of their relationship). At times funny, you'll laugh as much as you groan as they weave their way through the complexities that arise when the dynamic shifts and friends become lovers. The chemistry between the two is combustive, yet, it's the humor and tenderness that surfaces when they let go of their fears and embrace their desires that will reel you in and keep you captivated. Enthusiasts of solid romance with an edge of heat will love Veiled Seduction. It is well written and progresses at a pace that doesn't require a break from beginning to end. If that's not enough temptation, fans of the first book also get snippets from Mason and Leyla, as well as a sizzling scene between the two that will have you breaking out our copy of Veiled Desire for a repeat. A definite must read for the TBR list, be sure not to miss Veiled Seduction.

Veiled Seduction,
This review is from: Veiled Seduction: Veiled, Book 2 (Kindle Edition)
Veiled Seduction is the second installment in Alisah Rai's Veiled series. It can be read as stand alone but Veiled Desire, the first novella in the series, will give a bit of family history and a brief introduction to Sasha, the hero in this story.
Dr. Maira Khan is a cool character, confident and professional. But when she discovers her good friend Sasha Karimi has been brought into the hospital, having been shot in the line of duty, her cool professional exterior instantly melts away and is replace with panic as she comes apart at the seams. She has been in love with Sasha for the last two years but has never told him, instead settling for hanging out and being buddies. She was raised by ultra conservative parents and although she's modern woman, she's been shy about revealing her feelings. The thought of losing Sasha without ever having told him she loved him nearly sends her over the edge. She decides enough is enough and it's time to make her move. Sasha was shot while heroically bringing down a gunman that was shooting up a school full of children. His injuries are not life threatening and he'll recover but he's now been reluctantly forced into the limelight for his much unwanted fifteen minutes of fame. He's a low-key guy and just wants to get back to business as usual. When his friend Maira comes over bearing gifts (food) and looking hot, he's happy to see her but a little confused. When she comes on to him, he assumes she's suffering from a case of hero worship like everyone else seems to be and he's very disappointed and hurt. He's also extremely turned on. They end up in very brief but hot make out session and then Sasha sends Maira away leaving her embarrassed and humiliated. After realizing he has strong feelings for Maira, and has made a terrible mistake Sasha becomes determined to win Maira back by apologizing and courting her properly to show her the respect she deserves. But Maira figures they've already done that part--dating and getting to know each other--when their relationship was platonic. She's ready to move on to the more intimate aspects of their relationship and sets out to seduce her man. Sasha is a hero in every sense of the word. (I pictured him looking like Sayid from LOST, yum!) He selflessly put his life on the line to save innocent children from a madman and now he has women falling at his feet. So when he thinks his friend is coming on to him for all the wrong reasons, he's disappointed. But instead of letting Maira down gently, he gets physical with her and then rejects her...after the kisses. I have to say I didn't care for his behavior at this point. I decided he was going have to work pretty darn hard to win me Maira back after that. Luckily, Sasha comes to his senses and proves to be quite a gentleman. He pulls out all the stops to win Maira affections. Maira's character was actually quite different from how she was described very early in the book. It was said people would describe her as "prodigy, weird, ice queen, robotic". However the Maira we see in Veiled Seduction is actually funny, warm, a little vulnerable and very likable. She's smart and although she's rather inexperienced in the romance department, she manages to work out the ins and outs of seduction. But then I suppose with Sasha as motivation, who wouldn't be a quick study? Veiled Seduction is another sweet tale of friends who become lovers. What I loved most about this story is blend of romance, relationship and steamy, sexy scenes. Sasha and Maira's relationship has been a couple of years in making and so they know each other as friends first. However their road to relationship bliss is paved with a few potholes. They don't dive right into the perfect romance, and they still have to work at it. They're still growing in their relationship as friends as well as lovers so the build up is sweet and the sexual tension between them is hot! I really liked how they were in love before they took their relationship to an intimate level. Veiled Seduction is romantic, sexy. I most certainly look forward to reading more from Alisha Rai.

Veiled seduction by Alisha Rai,
This review is from: Veiled Seduction: Veiled, Book 2 (Kindle Edition)
Sasha has just become the hero of the town. After a man opened fire on a school playground, police offer Sasha happened to be in the right place at the right time. He gunned down the shooter, risking his life but saving so many. Rushed to the hospital for a bullet wound to the leg, Maira, the ER doctor freaks out when she is informed her good friend has been admitted. As Sasha lay under heavy sedation, Maira lets out all her hidden emotions of love she has been holding in secretly towards Sasha.
After he is home, and very hounded by neighbors and the media, Maira sneaks in to give him some food and makes the bold decision that she wants to take their friendship to the next level. Her way of telling him is to just take her shirt off. Sasha is stunned, and with so many women throwing themselves at him because he is a hero, he thinks Maira is just following suit. He treats her badly, and Maira leaves, devastated. After meeting with his sister and her husband, and getting some sense knocked into him, he realizes Maira was sincere in her affections. Now he must win her back - apologizing and romance are in the plan. I knew Sasha would be quite a different hero than Mason in her first book. He is more surly, quiet, and overall a harder hero to break out of his shell. I was taken aback by how he treats Maira when he misunderstands her intentions in the beginning. He definitely redeems himself in the book, almost too much, making a plan that includes only kissing her and truly winning her affection, rather than just basing it on sex. He holds Maira up on a pedestal, frightened he will scare her away if he goes too far too fast. Maira is a virgin, but not a delicate flower. She wants the strong sexy Sasha - BAD. I didn't quite feel as strong of an emotional connection between these two as in her first book, but they still had their very sexy moments. Alisha Rai puts such naughty sex scenes in this book - I love it. We even get a very explicit scene between Mason and Leyla from Veiled Desire. I loved revisiting those characters. I'm very impressed with Alisha Rai. I've already bought her back list and I look forward to anything she writes in the future. Really sexy, fun books. Rating: 3.5/5 |
