5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for your home movies!, February 27, 2009
This review is from: Velbon DV7000 3-Section Ultra Heavy Duty Tripod with Geared Center Column, 2-Way Fluid Head and QB-6RL Quick Shoe, Max Height 64", Supports 9.9 lbs (Electronics)
This tripod is just awesome for us not so professional folks who like to video tape our kids and family. It's a perfect match for my Canon HV20. The pan and the tilt is smooth. For the price it's a steal. If you are an amateur like me and you want a good result from your videos then this is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bubble level is hidden from view!, March 17, 2010
This review is from: Velbon DV7000 3-Section Ultra Heavy Duty Tripod with Geared Center Column, 2-Way Fluid Head and QB-6RL Quick Shoe, Max Height 64", Supports 9.9 lbs (Electronics)
This Amazon.com listing (and the manufacturer's own website) claims the Velbon DV-7000 has a bubble level. I received my tripod yesterday, and examined it carefully. It did not appear to have a level. I was quite unhappy!

But today I found that it does in fact have a level -- it's just "hidden". By doing a Google image search, I was able to find a picture of the head showing where the level is located. You have to tilt the top portion of the head all the way forward (so that, if a camera were on the plate, it would be pointed down toward the ground) to expose the bubble.

I don't know why Velbon chose to hide the level in this way. But it is there, and it seems to work fine. The other aspects of the tripod -- the legs, leg extensions, head, etc. -- all seem stable and well-constructed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good for the money, May 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Velbon DV7000 3-Section Ultra Heavy Duty Tripod with Geared Center Column, 2-Way Fluid Head and QB-6RL Quick Shoe, Max Height 64", Supports 9.9 lbs (Electronics)
Ok, it it perfect? No. It's a little on the plasticy side, but no more than any other in this price range. The head is smooth. The overall unit is a little heavier then it's competition, but I was looking for that. I tried a few entry level carbon fiber tripods and they were so light that the platform wasn't stable. The weight is a good thing. It's far more stable then others in this price range. Overall, I'm very happy. If you're a pro, you may want to spend big money, but this is good enough for us beginers.
