Much the same as one I owned over twenty years ago. Why (fix) change the design if it doesn't need changing (fixing). The only difference between the old Model & the new one is that there is a switch in the cover that allows you time to pour the water into unit & then place the pot underneath. Also it seems cheaper material is now being used.
Keeps water hot all the time (except there is a vacation off switch) so you are able to make coffee in about three minutes. Real nice unit. Update 3/10/2011 Unit plastic has started to crack around the burner. Don't know how much longer it will last. Have had it about 5-1/2 years Maybe thats what they were designed for. Except for cracked plastic , no problem

Held up for 13 years of daily use!- SEE UPDATE ON NEW MACHINE,
By
This review is from: BUNN GRW Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, White (Kitchen)
I just replaced my 13 year old Bunn with the exact same model. I cannot think of another household appliance that has outlived this machine. It was used daily (and sometimes twice a day) for all of that time, and it still made a great cup of coffee. Finally it sprung a leak, so I replaced it with the exact same model. As for taste, it's the best too. It makes far superior coffee to my in-laws more expensive Cuisinart, and it makes it FAST. There is good reason that the finest restaurants and coffee houses use Bunn.
One improvement on my new machine: the clever makers at Bunn installed a lever on the water intake that will not allow the coffee to brew until you close the door. This prevents the coffee from already starting to brew before you replace the carafe (remember how quick it is?). The downside is (and I'm sure it was a cost-saver to them) they expect you to use the glass carafe to measure water, so they no longer provide you with the plastic Bunn water measuring carafe. I found it useful for other things, such as watering household plants and measuring large amounts of water (think extra big measuring cup). I do think that new users will appreciate not having to store an extra piece of equipment. UPDATE: My 2nd Bunn was not built nearly as well as the first. Shortly after a year (the warranty period), it began leaking from the base. This leak began as a small puddle of water and ended in the machines inability to hold nearly any water. This leak from the base seems to indicate a compromised metal tank, leading to the machine's demise. Additionally, the plastic began to crack all around the burner radiating outward. The plastic under the spray head also cracked in multiple places radiating outward from where the coffee drips out. I guess they don't make them like they used to. Given my experience with the newer machine, I would no longer recommend this product. I threw it in the trash, and bought a Keurig- which makes great coffee, one cup at a time. So far over 1 year, and no trouble.

Great coffee maker, cheap plastic base,
By
This review is from: BUNN GRW Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, White (Kitchen)
I have owned four or five of these great coffeemakers, starting back when I could buy them at Wal Mart for $49. Then after the discount stores quit selling them, I found them at my local electrical supply store. Love the quick 3-minute brewing time (or dripping time), the great cup of coffee it produces, and the quality. The reason I have gone through so many . . . we have an abundance of minerals in our water and I did not clean the water reservoir as frequently as was recommended, so mineral deposits built up on the heating element and over a period of time the water did not get hot.
Fast forward to my current coffeemaker purchased about three years ago. Within three months the base cracked surrounding the metal plate the carafe sits on. As the months progressed, so did the cracking of the plastic. It seemed like the heat from the metal plate was making the surrounding plastic brittle and causing it to crack. Not too bad, I could live with it, so I didn't try to return it. (I didn't keep my receipt.)BUNN GRXW Original 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, White The problem worsened, now I have chunks of plastic that have broken off around the base. My son offered to buy me a new unit if I would throw that "broken piece of junk" in the trash. At near $100 per unit, I am going to keep it until the minerals ruin it. I have been better about doing the white vinegar treatment to remove mineral deposits in the water reservoir more regularly than I did in my previous makers, and as I stated before, it makes great coffee. Added information: My daughter received the stainless steel reservoir model as a weddng gift in 1996 and has not had any problems. It is just the white plastic model of the later version that has the water stopping feature when the lid is up that I have experienced the cracking problems. The previous models came with the plastic water pitcher. If not for this cheap plastic problem, I would have rated five starts.

This is the only coffeemaker I will buy. My previous one lasted about 15 years as did the one before that. Coffee in only 3 minutes. Great in the morning or when company drops in.

I would never buy any other kind of coffeemaker!!! Bunn is the best. I bought this one for my mom because her Mr Coffee quit working after about a year. You might as well pay a little more for a quality product.

Product arrived undamaged. Followed the included directions and started making coffee. It has already made over 100 pots of great coffee. What more can I say. Wish I had a local source for the filters.

I am sorry to say I am very disappointed with the Bunn GRX-W 10 cup Coffee Brewer I ordered and received. The reason being that it leaks in the back, all the time on my counter. I am going to check into returning it today. I have to go out and buy a new one because I have to continually wipe up water.
