"Robert Appleton takes his readers on another fantastic journey to exotic worlds with foreign landscapes and alien life forms... If you are into science fiction and great writing, give this a try." - Bitten by Books (Review of previous edition)
I tried to like this book ...I really did.....But it just never could seem to get off the ground. That being said here's a little about the plot without spoilers I hope. Two Asian young girls break the rules of the spacelanes unwittingly and are sentenced to a lifetime of slavery. Along comes this member of the aristocracy who is much more than he seems. With a minimal amount of training we are expected to believe that two young girls can become commandos and work for military intelligence overnight. This has the makings of a sat morning serial adventure like flash gordon or gene Autry where the good guys our hero's come up against impossible odds and triumph single handily. The book has it's moments of interest but overall it is more of an idealist look at situation which makes it not believable at all for the most part. It's just ok and nothing really to write home about. BTW..I hate giving bad reviews because of the work the authors put into their writing...but I have to be honest on the other hand.
Robert Appleton is an award-winning author of science fiction, steampunk and historical fiction. Based in Lancashire, England, he can be caught hiking or kayaking in his spare time, and likes to read as many Victorian adventure novels as he can get his hands on. The night sky is his inspiration.
