5.0 out of 5 stars This lot is good
As Amazon changes prices so frequently, I must write cost
factor first.
I bought 4 x $4.99/spindle=$19.96 for 100 discs
which was much cheaper than buying 100 spindle at $29.99.
(I bought 100 at 32.00 before:Disc ID MCC-003-00. Burned
about 30 discs via Nero, DVD Decrypter. Printed by Casio CW50
So far 1 coaster)

Got these when they were on sale a few months ago. Pretty disappointed with them. They are shiny silver top like many stated. This isnt bad with DVDs! Shiny tops arent like CDs because the actual layer that is written on is "sandwitched" between two plastic layers unlike CDs. That is why someone coudnt gauge the silver off on another post.

Anyways...

5.0 out of 5 stars Works GREAT with Lite-On SOHW-1633S 16X DL Burner !, February 8, 2005
This review is from: Velocity DVD+R 8X 4.7GB (25-Spindle) (Electronics)
Like others, I was also a bit apprehensive when I bought the 25-pack to try out. I have a Lite-On SOHW-1633S 16X Dual Layer DVD burner and these discs are working great with my burner. I usually get 1 coaster for every 6 or 7 discs that I burn and with this even that has not been the case ! The Media ID for these are OptoDisc and it really doesn't matter what the brand name is as long as your burner likes the discs !

These are the nuggets that I learnt from burning 200+ DVD's
* Expensive brand name does NOT mean a better quality. It's the MEDIA ID that matters ! (Media ID for the disc can be found from the DVD burning software)
* 1 coaster for every 8-10 discs burnt is a very good success rate !
* Keep your burner updated with the latest firmware !
* Check out the media reviews at www.cdr-zone.com/reviews/dvd_media_reviews to see what media works best with your burner
* Don't pay higher for a faster media (especially when burning movies since it's the average speed that matters)
* Have patience and don't get frustrated ! :)

Good luck and remember it's the media id that matters, NOT the brand name !

5.0 out of 5 stars these are decent disc made by optodisc, January 5, 2005
This review is from: Velocity DVD+R 8X 4.7GB (25-Spindle) (Electronics)
i make decent copies using my NEC 2500A AND BENQ 800A. Hey SAM, sell the rest of your spindles to me. i'm serious!
These may not be the best but it also depends what burner is being used to burn them. i burned 150 discs and so far no coasters

Anyways... created about 15 coasters at one point and coudnt figure out why. Turns out burning at 8x (like they're rated for) doesnt cut it. Lowered it to 4x and no coasters so far. It hasnt been long enough for me to test longitivity.

A friend borrowed a movie which plays fine on my Phillips DVD player and would freeze on his cheapo player. So if your player's picky, move along and get some TY or Rideks.

1.0 out of 5 stars From ok to just junk...., December 24, 2004
This review is from: Velocity DVD+R 8X 4.7GB (25-Spindle) (Electronics)
The latest disc seem to be made by optodisc. If you know anything about blank DVD's, optodisc is one of the WORST.

That and they are the plain silver top that will get damaged EASY.

Don't waste your time or money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage, December 29, 2004
This review is from: Velocity DVD+R 8X 4.7GB (25-Spindle) (Electronics)
I ended up purchasing 150 of these disks, boy was that a waste of money. Not a single disk i have burned has worked, looks like it burns fine, but try and open the disk up and there are no files, it has been burned too, with nothing showing up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Disks!!!, October 31, 2004

I purchased a Velocity DVD+R 8X 25-Spindle from Amazon. I am totally satisfied with this product as all disks were always burned successfully. And the burned disks can be played on more DVD players than even the branded ones. Shining surface is not a problem for me. Plus it's a bargain for the price paid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too bad to be true, January 3, 2005
This review is from: Velocity DVD+R 8X 4.7GB (25-Spindle) (Electronics)
I bought these DVD-R at $4.99 each pack, tried to write 3 disks, all of them have the same problem: skipping. Actually I should not feel so bad if I only bought one pack, but the problem is I bought 6 packs, totally 150 disks,so you could imagine my lost.
