4.0 out of 5 stars A good price on competent blank CD media
The product is packaged in a durable plastic container which is easy to open and close and protects the CD blanks from dust, etc. The blanks are fine for general use although recording quality is enhanced by recording at less than the maximum speed of the CD burner as is the case with most brands of low cost CD blanks. Low incidence of defective media (one faulty disk...

1.0 out of 5 stars No good cdr
I have burn these CDR with almost full 702mb of DivX files on it, every time I burn the verify process will fail at the end, so this brand don't have the full 700mb capacity. if you burn 640 its ok, I suggest you go with something else if you want your memory saved. and I still haven't got my rebate yet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mail-in-rebate scam, August 9, 2005

If there are mail in rebates on the items you purchase, and if there is a clause like you have to mail in the form within a specific number of days from the purchase date, be assured, The Amazon and the product manufacturer makes sure that it arrives to your home after that day to make sure you won't submit your rebate form.

1.0 out of 5 stars very bad cdrs... and only have 350mb capacity..., August 22, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Velocity CDR 52X 80 Minute/700 MB Compact Discs (100-spindle) (Electronics)
I have burn these CDR, but none of them are burnt successfully. This brand cdr seems that it only have 350mb capacity. if you burn more, the file will be damaged!! my suggest is that read the customer comments before you buy a very cheap thing, it is very important. If you see two or more bad comments, then just trust it... and now I begin to worry about my rebate...'cause the CDR had been sent after the date, but i got the reply from amazon, saying that I can mail my rebate form after i got these cdrs. but i can not stop worrying when i saw all the bad comments about the rebate.

Low incidence of defective media (one faulty disk encountered to date - ~50-60% of disks used). Media accepts a printed label well and contains space to support writing on CD with a marker. All in all I consider this product to be a good value for general use including archiving personal data files.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blank CDs, August 18, 2008

This review is from: Velocity CDR 52X 80 Minute/700 MB Compact Discs (100-spindle) (Electronics)
I bought this along with a pack of DVDs because of the great deal I got. No issues with the CDs. They work great for my car stereo

If you looking for only space, try external HD since its much faster than burning CDs. If you are looking for portability in addition to space, I would recommend you try a portable HardDrive (costs arnd $160 almost double of external HD) and very sleek, lighweight. Also no power cord required with portable ones since they are laptop powered

2.0 out of 5 stars Haven't really had a problem but, March 17, 2006

Haven't really had a problem but some of the disks have big blue blotchs on the writing surface. I was surprised when they burned OK, so maybe it is not really a defect.

Edited 7/7/06: These really suck. About half will not burn. Of the half that did burn OK, half of those will not play. I didn't know they still made discs half this bad.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doubleplus-ungood, February 22, 2006
This review is from: Velocity CDR 52X 80 Minute/700 MB Compact Discs (100-spindle) (Electronics)
I've bought a lot of generic CD and DVD media for burning and these CD-Rs are without a doubt the worst I've ever bought. So far I've made about 12 coasters and am not even half way through the spindle of 100. I wrote to Velocity customer service to tell them of the problem and was ignored. I'm not an idiot and know how to burn a CD and get around quality problems but these discs don't care. I also have five different CD burners and these discs have crapped out in every one of them.

My advice is not to buy these unless you get them with a 100% rebate offer to pay for them and you don't have to pay for shipping or sales tax (in other words, if you can get them for free then OK otherwise stay away). If you submit a rebate keep really good documentation of your rebate submission because they will screw it up as well. I consider myself a "rebate master" and have never had a problem that a company wouldn't fix in terms of rebates except for these guys. They wanted information from me that I have never kept for any rebates I've submitted over many years of submitting them. When I told them I didn't have that very specific piece of information (I had the receipt, the UPC code copy, the product label copy, etc.) instead of them trying to find a solution, they just ignored the email and never responded. What is more interesting though is that I received a rebate from them the next day for something of theirs I never bought which wasn't for the same rebate amount but I figured that it was not worth my time pursuing it any further. So keep records and copies of your stuff before submitting the rebate.

The lesson I get from the Velocity folks is that if you say something to them about their products or rebates that they don't like, don't expect to hear back from them.

There are plenty of CD media bargains out there so look for them and stay away from these.

The only reason I gave these a 2 star instead of a one star rating is that a there were a few good CDs in the batch.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad experience, July 29, 2005
This review is from: Velocity CDR 52X 80 Minute/700 MB Compact Discs (100-spindle) (Electronics)
I've had a bad experience with these CDs. I just read a bad review for the 25pack and I've had similar issues. There is a problem when I burn these CDs and I've had to throw most of the ones I've tried to burn so far. I have never faced this problem with even CDs that seem to be of poor quality. I would not recommend these CDs to anyone.
