New York Times, December 2006
"Mr. Lamm, a longtime automotive journalist who is currently an editor at large at Road & Track magazine, has experienced the cars firsthand, driving, riding in or photographing each one. He combines these personal experiences with a broad history ... The reward is having so much in one place. Throughout the book, there are short bits from Jay Leno, who offers a more entertaining perspective on these cars, many of which sit in his garage ... You don't have to be a gearhead to appreciate the collection of vibrant photographs."
Road and Track, June 2007
“An in-depth historical look at the evolution of the modern supercar, loaded with fantastic photography.”
Edmonds.com, May 2007
“Coverage of the sexy beasts kicks off right at 1967 and goes clear through today. It's an extremely comprehensive book, with every era and every inch of supercars detailed (from horsepower increases to brake size). Dig the cool design sketches and build photos.”
New Zealand Driver, Fall 2006
Classic and Sports Car (UK), April 2007
“If you’ve any petrol in your veins, you are going to be addicted to this book.”
In the mid 1960s the postwar boutique automakers producing exquisite race cars in their small shops in Europe unleashed an entirely new breed of automobile on the motor sports world: the supercar. These outrageous machines packaged the technology automakers like Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, and Lamborghini had developed for use on the track in exclusive road-going cars for well-heeled enthusiasts.
Velocity: Supercar Revolution tells the story of these cars, and of the supercar movement itself, through profiles of and interviews with the designers and engineers who developed these cars, the men who raced them, and the celebrities who drive them today. Through the first-hand stories and spectacular photography of John Lamm, a man who was present at the birth of most of these fabulous cars, this book conveys as never before the power of automotive aesthetics and performance pushed to their absolute limit.

Would make perfect gift for any guy between 13 and 80.,
This review is from: Velocity: Supercar Revolution (Hardcover)
I have collected auto books for years and this one is one of the best. I can't imagine anyone interested in modern auto's would not love to receive this as a gift.
This book is huge: 352 oversize, glossy pages. Tons of color photos. Owner story with each car highlighted. One word of caution however: due to the size and weight of this book, I have found (when buying it online) that some sellers cut corners on the "boxing". I ordered a copy and it was sent in a bubble mailer. This book weighs over 6 lbs. When received, all four corners of the covers were bent. Not a big deal for me, but as a gift - not good. The only way this book will arrive in like new condition is if it is shipped in a box with padding.

Interesting Info on the making of super cars!,
By Simmdog (CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Velocity: Supercar Revolution (Hardcover)
This book not only talked about the car, but also about the motivations/inspirations for creating such cars during the time. For instance, I had no idea the emissions laws of the 70's prevented one Ferrari as well as many other super cars from being imported to the US legally or without modification. I do wish I could find out about more info then just from the 1960s onward and would like to see the author try one pre 1960s. Definitely, not a book of just numbers and figures cause that would be boring to read about in older cars. Photography is terrific, however, i found it surprising that the pages are not glossy. I bought it off amazon for much lower though. Definitely, a keeper for any car enthusiast.

What a fantastic book!,
By Rider Boy (Regina, Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews

I got this book as a gift for Christmas. I imediately looked at the beautiful photography for hours, but only recently got around to reading the text. What a great story! The author knows this subject inside and out, and worked with many of the famous designers who created these spectacular cars. The sidebars by Jay Leno were hilarious! I had never been a Leno fan until I read this book and realized he was as smart and knowledgeable as he is funny. I now watch him regularly.
