Purchased this subwoofer to replace my old MK MX-80 sub that I had had for 18 years. Did a lot of subwoofer researched and came away liking the Velodyne DEQ-12R the best. The things that drove my decision were its features & specs, price, the good reviews it had received and the fact Velodyne has been manufacturing subwoofers for a long time. However, things did not go well. The first sub I received had an out of the box failure. The remote control didn't work. Called Amazon customer service and they got me a replacement in 3 days, but this one also had an out of the box failure. At first I thought there was a power supply failure because the display didn't light up when it was turned on. I later discovered it did have power just no display. Also learned that Velodyne subs are assembled in China, hmmm I don't see any problems there. Called Velodyne to bitch about their poor quality control. No way should a customer have to experience one let along two out of the box failures. Velodyne's tech support told me I could open up the sub without voiding the warranty and look for any lose cable connections. Found the display cable unplugged. Reconnected the cable and display was up and running. Why should I have to fix their mistakes. How that its working, the sub sounds great and it is easy to set up and use. I like the sub I am just disappointed by Velodyne build quality. Velodyne bring your the assembly back to the states. I just hope this sub will hold up as well as my old Miller & Kreisel did. Only time will tell. As a side note, my experience with the Amazon customer service department was first rate.

Firstly HDTV Depot Online was great. Corrected an order mistake I made and was delivered quickly. Brian was most helpful and a credit to customer service. The Velodyne is for a large room and it was good I did not order a 15 in. To sum it up, this woofer will fill all your movie and game needs. Period. It is not top audiophile status but then it is not 2-3k either. Forget the nit-picking analysis of the other reviews........ it is a damn good subwoofer and works well. Delivers good tight bass!

This is my third seperate Velodyne unit for a new system. This product is AWESOME!
I purchased my first Velodyne UDl- 15 series in the late 80's and was blown away. This unit,DEQ-12R, had chills runningg down my body. being an audiophile, I am very fussy on my products

I purchased this sub to complement my Jamo towers already packed with 8'' woofers. This velodyne sub delivers crushing bass at full volume without any distortion. The included microphone automatically detected that the sub was in phase with the jamo's and auto corrected the subs phase to correct for the room. The difference was on the order of rediculous, had to turn the electronic volume control down to below 15 to blend better. Absolutely incredible subwoofer, excellent quality, and best of all universal application (took with me overseas to Europe - only had to change the switch on the amp to work on 220v).

Unlike other comments, no issues with my remote control and 2 colleagues have also purchased this sub on my recommendations - absolutely the best boom for the buck.

This Velodyne subwoofer was a replacement for a JBL 12-inch subwoofer that was approximately 10 years old. No comparison between the two. The Velodyne has a lower frequency range than the JBL without sounding muffled. Reason for buying a new subwoofer: The JBL was cutting in and out, not staying on once it got warmed up from use. After reading many reviews from other people trying to get something like this fixed, figured it was more cost effective just to purchase a new subwoofer. Glad I did!

Awesome subwoofer. All the features you need are there. Looks great, sound is superb.
Power is more than adequate.
