Velodyne Digital Power Slot Subwoofer (DPS-12)

I am using this unit in a large room (20' x 30'). Velodyne recommends using two subwoofers for the space or a single larger unit, but the single unit performs very well in my opinion (I also don't want to be thrown out of the house!).

The controls, however, leave some to be desired. The volume level is indicated by a flashing LED. Faster flashing means higher volume, slower flashing means lower volume. But you don't know where you are in the range. A number display or a bar display would have been much better. In addition, this subwoofer has 4 modes of operation (movies, rock/jazz, ...), but I have a nice receiver that has all these features and I want to be able to bypass these modes on the subwoofer. Luckily, my receiver has a built-in automatic equalizer, so no matter what the setting is on the sub, the receiver compensates (as long as I don't change the mode on the sub).

This sub has been shaking my house for 3-4 years now. There is no lack of bass by any means. The internal amp burned out, which was covered by Velodyne's warranty. I just had to cover the cost to mail the amp to them, and I promptly received a new one. I highly recommend this sub.

Works great! Sounds awesome! I have to open the closet door in the room to keep it from rattling when where watching movies!

I replaced my Bose 12" subwoofer with this one and it's a monster compared to Bose sub. I got in at a very good price of $499 and oh boy, it's a steal at this price. Hail Velodyne !!

Bose is a gazillion-dollar sham monster that lives on its mega-advertising budget and the sad ignorance of the consumer public. Anybody with an ounce of audio experience (read: who's ever directly compared virtually ANYTHING to Bose besides the cheapie generics or mass-produced brands like Kenwood) knows that. Just go to any audio forum like ecoustics dot com or home theater forum dot com and you'll see.
