I have owned a Klipsch LF-10 sub, Velodyne HGS-12 sub, Paradigm PW-2200 sub. and a Velodyne DD-15 subwoofer. I purchased this subwoofer because of my experience with Velodyne subwoofers. This sub. was a terrific addition to my sons Klipsch HT-500 / Yamaha Reciever combo. purchased for my sons room. The Velodyne easily tripled the bass output and quality over the base subwoofer that Klipsch sells with the HT-500 set.
I'm amazed at how clean, powerful and HUGE the presence of sound is now that we added the Velodyne Impact 12" to the mix. Just a couple of days ago, I ordered the Velodyne DEQ-12R to add to the set-up. My sons room already impacts the entire house with authority, I can't wait to hear and feel the system once the other Velodyne sub gets here. The Klipsch, Yamaha and Velodyne set-up is nothing short of astonishing. You would truely have to see those tiny satelites while listening to the sound coming from them and the velodyne.
If you want bass with a solid impact and with very clean sound but don't have alot to spend on a subwoofer, buy this sub. It really is the very best subwoofer I have heard and felt compared to subs costing twice as much. I do think that the sub could use a better low bass extension for movies but it is tuned for high output with a low bass extension of 29 hz. Overall it is the very best bang for the buck with solid clean bass that lives up to it's name, Impact!

I really like the velodyne quality. I have had one impact 12 for a few years in my media room. I just decided to upgrade my living room so I got rid of the Bose and went with another impact 12. I would have given it five stars but this product wasn't working out of the box. When I opened the speaker box I found that velodyne hadn't connected the speaker inside of the box. Other than that it is still a great product. I stand by this brand.

I've had this sub in my living room for about 4 or 5 months now, and I'm still amazed at the sound quality. Granted - it's not quite as accurate as the much higher priced Velodyne servo-driven subs, but for the money it can't be beat.
It reproduces the really low frequencies just as accurately as the higher frequencies, and the response is smooth across the entire band. I have it crossed over at about 100hz.
One of my friends was so impressed with the sound quality, that he bought one to replace the Sony sub that came with his theater system.

Very nice, robust construction and sound. I'm not a sound expert but the sound is impressive for my room (aprox. 600 sq. ft). Installation is very easy, it is connected to a Denon 2311 receiver. I definetely recomend!

Velodyne subwoofers are the elite subwoofers on the market. However, don't buy cheap and you won't be disappointed. I bought this subwoofer to replace a Velodyne DPS 12. As a home theater subwoofer, it does a satisfactory job, but it doesn't compare to the DPS 12. The DPS 12 shook my house off the foundation; the Impact 12 provides the low-end sound, but not the response and earth shattering thump the DPS 12 did. The Impact 12 does a good job, but I was spoiled with the DPS 12. Unfortunately, the DPS 12 is discontinued and the replacing model is the DEQ-12R, if the subs in that series compare to the DPS series I would recommend one of those over the Impact 12.

These are entry level and overpriced to begin with, ordinary off the shelf parts touting the veladyn name.
I will buy another subwoffer brand new off ebay.
Not the first time items on my amazon list suddenly jumped in price. Seems their computers are working overtime, this is a subwoofer been on the market for a year, not a limited edition new ipad people are waiting weeks for, and it is not a share of google stock to be jumping 20% overnight.
