5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly good prose October 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
David C. Cassidy has an amazing talent for writing descriptive prose. From start to finish, Velvet Rain is excellent. The only issue I had with the book was that Part II begins with such gruesome images of torture that I almost felt that I myself was being tortured. Interestingly, I sometimes have this problem with one of my favorite authors, Iain M. Banks. However, both of these authors are just so good that they are worth a bit of discomfort. Fortunately, the happy parts of Velvet Rain are just as well written as the unhappy parts, making for really good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunshine & rainbows anyone? October 29, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just my simple thoughts- No profound thought provoking revelations here. Once again I picked up a book I would normally steer clear of, but I figured at .99 why not? Flippinwonderful! The writing style wasn't what i'm used to so it took me about 50 pgs in before I was fully drawn in, but once in I couldn't put it down Setting aside the great characters and time period-the idea/concept/execution of the *sideways* timelines was fascinating. I really really liked this one & am glad I read it but...ahhh the ending? I so hate to cry..*bittersweet* (maybe just me) Looking forward to future books by this author!

More About the Author

David C. Cassidy--author, photographer, half-decent juggler--spends his writing life creating dark and touching stories where Bad Things Happen To Good People. Raised by wolves, he grew up with a love of nature, music, science, and history, with thrillers and horror novels feeding the dark side of his seriously disturbed imagination. He talks to his characters, talks often, and most times they listen. But the real fun starts when they tell him to take a hike, and they Open That Door anyway. Idiots.

David lives in Ontario, Canada. From Mozart to Vivaldi, classic jazz to classic rock, he feels naked without his iPod. Suffering from MAD--Multiple Activity Disorder--he divides his time between writing and blogging, photography and photoshop, reading and rollerblading. An avid amateur astronomer, he loves the night sky, chasing the stars with his telescope. Sometimes he eats.
