How gracious of Brenda to remind us of God's love and grace. To really know that we are deeply loved even with faults and in our missteps, is truly life-changing. From a sister in Christ who's done her share of pretending and covering up, I offer my heartfelt gratitude. The book is priceless. The truth it expounds invaluable. Thanks for being real with us.

This is a great book to cuddle up with on a quiet day. Brenda Waggoner is an experienced counselor, a transparent woman and a genuine friend to the reader. You can tell that Brenda's heart is to help women deal with those issues that keep them from finding the reality of God's unchanging love and His inexpressible mercy. How can anyone write about being "real" unless they are willing to be open about the challenges they've faced in life? Well, Brenda has been very candid regarding her experiences. Brenda, thank you for your wilingness to be vulnerable. It is that openness that has brought and will continue to bring so many women to a place of acceptance through "The Velveteen Woman." This book is worthy of the price tag and worthy of the reader's time.

this is the book for you. I read it and was saddened by the fact it was over. I wanted it to go on and on. It has opened my heart and my mind. It has inspired me to be joyous and thankful. I can now stop looking with my fake eyes and start seeing me as God has accepted me, shabbyness and all. Thank you Brenda for helping me start my path to "REAL".

I've read this book about three times in the two years I've known about it and it has truly changed me. My daily prayer has become, "Jesus, make me Real!" Brenda Waggoner vulnerably and artfully lays out the path to Real for readers and everyone I know who has read it has come away with a new perspective. She sprinkles Real stories throughout and her format is such that you won't want to put it down. The addition of "The Velveteen Rabbit" quotes makes it even deeper and each one fits so perfectly with, as Ms. Waggoner says, how we as women can become Real through God's transforming love.

Thanks to Brenda Waggoner, our Sunday morning Bible study had a sixteen week study on becoming the woman that God wants us to be. Brenda's thought provoking chapters led us to explore our thoughts and emotions and grow as sisters in Christ. The book is an easy read and a great jumping off point for the study of scripture. Keep your tissues handy. He'll touch your heart through her words.

What an excellent, excellent book!! I felt the same feelings of another reviewer who was sad to come to the end of the book and anxiously look for future books from Brenda Waggoner. In fact, I loved this book so much, this is my 6th purchase to share with friends. Thank you for putting yourself on paper, Brenda. This book is was a changing instrument in my life.

Brenda Waggoner writes as if she is talking to you on a personal level. She openly and honestly takes you on a passage from experienced trauma to hope in just 200 pages of quick read. Once you've read the book...you go back and savor a little more slowly the journey of becoming "real". Waggoner invites the reader to come to an understanding that unconditional love can transform us from what we have become to what, surely, is a more pleasing state of mind, body , and soul. She invites us to become real...the type of "real" that we were intended to be. As you read the Velveteen Woman, you will wipe the tears from your eyes as you enjoy the warmth that suddenly surrounds you. You will find yourself wanting to be a better friend, a better mate, a better person. I'm going to read it again.

What a beautiful book. Brenda gives hope to all women who are striving to understand themselves and yearning for a closer, more real relationship with God. Through her own struggles and those of friends and clients, Brenda shows each of us what it means to be REAL. What a glorious peace is available to us through God's grace, through the Lord's unconditional love. Women who struggle with their own frailties will find comfort in Brenda's words, hope in her own journey to becoming REAL. Thank you Brenda for a wonderful book.

Te Velveteen Women is an easy to read, thought provoking book that helps put you in touch with your "inner you". God made YOU special and unique and wants you to be YOU...not a fake. Through scripture, prayer, and personal search, this book breaks you away from the unrealities that you live. After finishing the book, my "walk" and relationship with Christ is deeper.

Brenda what a pleasure to read your book. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself. Realizing that God loves us unconditionally is very hard for some people to believe. You bring this to us on a level that we understand and makes us eagar to become REAL.
