This review is from: Vendetta Gold (Paperback)
Throughout the book, through many exciting and narrow escapes, while being pursued by a feudist from back home, Roy Huckaby is searching for a huge treasure of gold, silver and other valuables. But he has doubts about the validity of a treasure (el tesoro) map given to him by an old Mexican vaquero, who died shortly after giving him the map. Roy had given the old vaquero a ride to an old mission, as he was to weak to walk. It was the old vaquero's gift for a kindness shown to him by a complete stranger. The old Mexican's death was a mystical one, regarding 5 doves in a tree, but 6 flew away. So begins Roy's search for the treasure. Was the map real? The "feeling" said yes, but common sense said no. After all, "treasue maps" were a dime a dozen, all fakes. But through many perilous adventures, and a little romance, he finds the treasure. But a vendetta makes him feel guilty, so in the end his decision is not to dig it up. But he does, AFTER he dies. I invite you to find out how.
P.S. The enjoyment of this book is equally exciting in not only your anxiety that he find the treasure, but also the adventures (and self-recriminations) he experiences in arriving there.Vendetta Gold
