Mission Accomplished,
By
This review is from: Vendetta (Revenge of the Sisterhood (Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
Myra Rutledge has waited patiently for her turn to seek revenge for the death of her daughter who was killed by John Chai and whom justice failed to serve since he got diplomatic immunity.
Well the time for revenge has finally arrived and now with the help of the sisterhood its' Myras turn. As the girls meet for this mission Charles has informed them that only three of them along with himself will be going on this mission and Myra is not one of those chosen. Ms. Michaels has a way of putting you in the drivers seat and actually going along for the mission. There are many twists and turns along the way but of course we know that the final mission will be accomplished. I must say between Charles and Alexis and her bag of tricks all the unbelievable things seem to just fall into place. As in the previous series Jack still wont leave Nikki alone but as she has proven to the group this is where her loyalty is. I recommend it as a wonderful way to relax on a nice hot summers day and am sure you wont be able to put it down. The special touches that come from Barbara at just the right moments make it even more believable. Way to go Ms. Michaels another FANTASTIC BOOK.

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Fern grabs you on the first page and holds you until the last page.
Good to see justice done when the system fails.

GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT,

Our "mama hen" finally gets her man. This third entry in the revenge series allows Myra to exact her pound of flesh (literally) from the b*stard who took her pregnant daughter's life. The actual incident when punishment is exacted is very short so there is not a lot of anguish -- the leading up to and aftermath are most interesting though. Reviewers who are bent out of shape at the "torture" are off base here. This book is on a par with the first two so please do not skip it.

This is the best of the Sisterhood series yet... although some of the later installments might change my mind. Myra finally gets her revenge, and I love how Michaels has expressed her strength and weakness simultaneously. And, we could all use a "Charles" in our lives. I love Fern Michaels's writing style.

HOW SWEET IS REVENGE?,
This review is from: Vendetta (Sisterhood Series) (MP3 CD)
Whether we are aware of it or not audio book fans tend to associate a voice with a character or a particular series. For this listener my pleasure is greatly increased when one voice performer consistently inhabits a character or presents each story in a series, especially when the performer is as accomplished Laural Merlington. With the initial title in Michaels's Sisterhood series, 'Weekend Warriors', I came to identify Merlington's easy-to-listen-to voice with the storyline and the characters. My enjoyment increased with her presentation of 'Payback.' Thus, I knew I was in for a treat when I saw her name on the front of 'Vendetta,' the third Sisterhood novel by Fern Michaels. Many readers and listeners will recall that this series is based on the adventures of seven intrepid women. They've all been bruised in one way or another and have joined together as friends, promising to help and sometimes revenge one another. Myra Rutledge is the woman who began it all. She suffered an enormous loss when her pregnant daughter was killed by a hit-and-run driver. It turned out that the driver was an amoral playboy who enjoyed diplomatic immunity. Thus, he was free to return to his homeland and his luxe lifestyle. Now, Myra's significant other, Charles, a retired MI6 agent, has discovered the whereabouts of the driver. He's safe in China. That's not even a challenge for this group. Several of them plan to fly to Hong Kong, kidnap the playboy, and bring him back to their homestead where they will exact revenge. Sound simple? Few things are simple or as planned when the Sisterhood is involved. Give a listen to another exciting tale from Michaels and Merlington. - Gail Cooke

'Vendetta is a great tie-in book. I would like to see a little more meat in the sisters stories, however. 'The Sisterhood Series' is a wonderfully twisted look at "ladylike" revenge. Keep them coming Ms Michaels. Thanks from some devoted "twisted sisters".

Ok...Gettin A Bit Stupid...,
By
This review is from: Vendetta (Revenge of the Sisterhood (Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
I have been enjoying this series by Fern Michaels about the vigilante sisterhood because they are entertaining one day reads, despite the annoying Jack that keeps popping up. This one, however, the third in the Sisterhood, is rather stupid. Myra Rutledge, the money behind the gal group finally gets her name chosen out of the shoebox and can avenge her daughter's death. I found the whole story, 3 women secretly entering China, kidnapping the bad guy, whisking him off to America and basically beating the tar out of him, and then dumping him in England and never getting caught rather far fetched. Meanwhile, the annoying Jack keeps popping up breaking and entering and violating about 5000 laws himself. (At this point, who is this guy to judge?) Give me a break! The girls are starting to grow on me however, so I will read one more. This series gets one more shot with me and if the fourth is not better, I will not waste any more money.

Disturbingly Sick,
By Beth S "Book Raider" (Nashville TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vendetta (The Sisterhood, No.3) (Mass Market Paperback)
In this sick tale, Myra and her sisterhood reap vengance on the Chinese man (John Chai) who killed Myra's daughter, Barbara. Several members of the sisterhood kidnap the man from China and bring him to Myra's house where he is kept in a cell. Caning is the decided punishment and when the women release Chai to begin the torture he uses martial arts to try and escape. Several of the sisterhood end up hurt, including Myra's husband, Charles. After this scene Myra remarks, "We should break his legs, gouge his eyes out, pull out his tongue and ... his toenails and fingernails, too. He could have killed Charles and seriously hurt you girls. What kind of a person is that man?" My question is, what kind of women are Myra and those in the sisterhood? That they would cane a man, removing most of the top layer of skin leaving him in a situation where he could die from infection and be horrifically scarred for the rest of his life! It's a pretty sick tale and certainly not a psychologically healthy way to deal with anger.
I wonder what has happened in the author's life that would inspire such a gruesome tale.

Horrible!,
By
This review is from: Vendetta (The Sisterhood, No.3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Someone had hit and killed Maya's daughter as she was crossing the street. For revenge, Maya and her friends capture him, imprison him and cane him until he is disfigured.
This is sick. No matter how much you would hate the person who killed your daughter, nothing like this will make her come back, or make you feel any better. The author does a poor job portraying the driver of the car as an evil person the reader would want sucha thing to happen too. |
