Captivating,
By
This review is from: Vendetta (Snow Canyon Ranch Trilogy #2) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense #87) (Mass Market Paperback)
Leigh McAllister returned to Wolf Creek, Wyoming to take over a vet practice. Cole returned to discover the truth about his father's conviction for murder many years earlier and why Leigh lied on the stand--or did she?
When trouble hounds Leigh and rumors swirl around both Cole and Leigh, they must somehow work together to discover the truth, before more die. A mystery romance the way it should be with a breath-taking setting, well-drawn characters and a solid plot that draws the reader in as it draws Leigh and Cole together. This sequel to HARD EVIDENCE is another winner for Rustand. [...]

This review is from: Vendetta (Snow Canyon Ranch Trilogy #2) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense #87) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed this book, however, I found that even though I had read the other books (yes, I read book three out of order) I had a bit of a problem feeling a connection with Leigh and I am not sure why. She has come back to Snow Canyon after getting her Veterinary degree and also having worked previously, however, but the town's people are blackballing her with rumors being spread and other problems including her having to move out of her clinic temporarily. Add to that her mother is NOT liked, in fact she has actually made some enemies, in this area so she definitely has 2 strikes against her. The town is also struggling with their feeling toward the man, Cole, that she was in love with as a teenager, who has just moved back into town with his young daughter. He came back trying to prove that his father did NOT murder a man, while they were living there previously. The real murderer that had been comfortable in this town, while the two of them, Cole and Leigh, had moved on has all of a sudden become very nervous with them both being back into town. Leigh actually witnessed him leaving the scene of the crime, although her memory is not as clear which of course, heightens the drama of this book. This is a good book and certainly one that if you have started to read the series you will want to read, and one that I am glad I read, although a very good book it is just not as great as the other two in my estimation.

Mystery and suspense entwined with romance,
By Cindy Bauer "Author & Editor" (Missouri) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vendetta (Snow Canyon Ranch Trilogy #2) (Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense #87) (Mass Market Paperback)
After reading Hard Evidence, I looked forward to reading the next in the series, Vendetta. I was not disappointed! The series revolves around the lives of the three McAllister sisters.
In Vendetta, Leigh McAllister takes over a veterinary practice and sinks almost everything into it. She has high hopes of staying put and making it a go, a lifelong dream of hers, but someone doesn't want her to stay there. Several years earlier, Cole Daniels' father was convicted of murder and it was due, for the most part, on testimony given by none other than Leigh McAllister. He wants justice for his wrongly-convicted father. So he returns to Wolf Creek to search for proof of his father's innocence. Both characters are compelled to succeed. But then, strange things began to happen at the clinic and someone appears to be doing everything in their power to stop Cole from finding out the truth. But why? And are the two connected in any way? Though the friction is high, it's becomes apparent that they will need to work together to find out who is behind everything, before there's another murder! You won't be able to stop reading until you know what happens. Rustand is not only talented, but brilliantly delivers mystery and suspense entwined with romance. The balance of characters, setting and plot is well-blended. I enjoyed this read even more than the first one and can't wait to find out about Tessa's life, the last of the sisters. As an avid long-time mystery lover, I give it 5 stars, a must read! Bravo Roxanne!

Better than the first one,

Why, after reading two out of three of the trilogy you can be sure that RR has a fervently faith in God... and of course that's good.
The book is more thrilling than the first one (Hard Evidence) although the story is almost the same and without reading yet the third one (Wildfire) I could almost expect the same story - maybe I'm wrong. Still this is a better read than the first one. |
