5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful books Lisle tops the charts with her books !
Ms. Lisle is a totally terriffic author. I normally cannot stand a sequal but Lisle makes the books so entertaining I can't put it down. I especially love the adventure / romance combination thrown in. It is a series well worth reading and I am looking into buying the seperate books myself as they come out. Thank you so much Ms. Lisle for writing a series that is truly...

2.0 out of 5 stars Let down
I was really disappointed in this book after reading Diplomacy of Wolves. I still like the world, many of the concepts, and the basics of the plot. However, I'm still finding it very difficult to like any of the characters beyond Ian and Kait's uncle. Kait herself is no more likeable than before, and as for Danya . . . Are we supposed to excuse her actions because of the...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Grand Adventure, September 12, 1999

This review is from: Vengeance of Dragons (The Secret Texts, Book 2) (Paperback)
Possibly the only sequel I've ever read that was actually better than the original. Ms. Lisle continues to impress with her fantastically drawn characters and intricate storytelling, and I'm oh-so-eagerly awaiting the next volume in the saga. Wonderful stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Vengeance of Dragons' Fantastic adventure at its best!, May 20, 2000
This review is from: Vengeance of Dragons (The Secret Texts, Book 2) (Paperback)
About two years ago I picked up a book entitled 'Diplomacy of Wolves',the first book in 'The Secret Texts' trilogy. I was immediately drawn into the world Holly Lisle has created. In 'Vengeance of Dragons' Lisle continues the story of Kait Galiweigh and her quest for 'The Mirror of Souls'. The story picks right up where 'Diplomacy of Wolves' left off and the pace never slows. The best part of Ms. Lisle's work in 'The Secret Texts' trilogy is that she has balanced an interesting mix of adventure, romance, political intrigue, and some incredible magic. Each character comes vividly to life and you can't help but feel a part of their world. If you are a fan of fantasy you would be cheating yourself by not reading this trilogy so check it out and be drawn in. The third book 'Courage of Falcons' is scheduled for and October 2000 release. I eagerly look forward to it.

A real page turner. I read mostly Lackey and Salvatore but I rate Lisle among the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than the First, December 7, 2000
The second book of The Secret Text trilogy picks up right where the first one left off. Kait Galweigh is stranded on an island with her friends with the Mirror of Souls in their possession. Kait is mistakenly led to believe that the Mirror will restore the lives of her family. In addition to being stranded on an unknown island, Kait and her friends are also in great danger from the Sabir family. Crispin Sabir believes that the Mirror of souls will give him incredible power and immortality and will do anything that he can to get his hands on it. In actuality, the Mirror contains the souls of the Dragons. The Dragons were evil sorcerers that had ruled the world long ago. Kait and her friends must stop an apocalyptic war that is prophesied to occur when the Dragon's are released from their captivity. Holly Lisle does a wonderful job of giving her characters life and weaving her plots together. This book is captivating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something Wonderful!, May 10, 2000
This review is from: Vengeance of Dragons (The Secret Texts, Book 2) (Paperback)
Holly Lisle has long been a favorite author of mine, and this book proved again why I dash to the bookstores to get a new book of hers. Wonderful characters, solid plot. Nothing happens by chance -- Lisle weaves the threads of the story with such a masterful touch, the resulting tapestry is colorful, passionate, and complete... almost. This is the 2nd of the trilogy. The final book will be out in October, 2000. I simply can't wait.

4.0 out of 5 stars Will leave you breathless!, October 23, 2003
We continue where Diplomacy of Wolves cut us off so abruptly. Danya birthed Solander, the Reborn. She still dreamed of revenge against Crispin, Anwyn, and Andrew Sabir, as well as, against her own House.

Ry caught up with Kait and they began their wary dance. In the first book we found out Kait could skinshift to wolf or fish form. Book two showed another form that she and Ry could do. Dughall showed Ry what they were truly fighting for. In doing so, Ry's whole outlook on life changed, along with his priorities. They all join forces.

The Dragons were released from the Veil and possessed the bodies of powerful people. Through their dark magic Calimeeka's fate was sealed. Using the lives and souls of those who dwelled within the city as fuel, a new city emerged. It would not be long before the Dragons would turn their sights beyond the city to the rest of the world.

Luercas remained a curious puzzle in the first book. In this one we learned why he was helping Danya. I can say no more on that without giving away too much.

**** I thought this one to be as awesome as the last! However, again, the reader is left hanging in the middle of a vital second. Consider yourself warned that even though this author is fantastic, it is best NOT to begin reading this trilogy until all three books are released! Unless you have all three before you begin, you will not be satisfied and will probably end up angry. If you purchase all three at once and go from one straight into the next, you are in for a treat! The author weaves a fabulous tapestry of magic that will leave you breathless! ****

5.0 out of 5 stars A sequel worthy of The Diplomacy of Wolves, April 24, 2000
This review is from: Vengeance of Dragons (The Secret Texts, Book 2) (Paperback)
This book is probably the only sequel that I have ever read which is as good as the first book in the series. This book introduces new plots, as well as continuing old ones. It definitely has some sad parts, which were so vividly written that I cried when I read them. This book ends with an even more un-bearable cliff-hanger then the first book, which I hadn't thought possible. But be forewarned, if you are not willing to wait until October 2000 for the next book don't read this one or the first one yet.
