Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Told in a series of flasbacks, this sexy thriller--a BOMC main selection in cloth--turns on intra-family feuding played out against a backdrop of corrupt Greek politics.

From Library Journal

Vengeance is a topnotch novel in the Sidney Sheldon tradition. Tom Lambert, a young workaholic executive who has a reputation for rebuilding failing companies, takes on the job of uniting three family enterprises under the global business umbrella of charismatic Swiss millionaire Maurice Stanton. Strong personalities immediately clash as everyone scrambles for their piece of the action. Lambert must fight for control in the boardroom even as he secretly plots revenge for a tragic death. As he recalls his years at Stanton, the story hastens inexorably toward the final showdown on Stanton's isolated Greek island. Well written and fast paced, the action moves from London to Silicon Valley to Greece under the repressive rule of the generals. By the author of The Killing Anniversary and Justice , this is a real winner for the popular fiction collection. BOMC selection.

More About the Author

Ian St James, according to the press, was a millionaire at the age of thirty, when the merchant bank backing his enterprises collapsed and took his business with it. In the years afterwards he started a management consultancy and later turned it into a small investment house. In 1977 he retired to write full time and published eight best-selling novels; The Money Stones, The Balfour Conspiracy, Winner Harris, The Killing Anniversary, Final Resort, Justice, Vengeance and Cold New Dawn.

He also started the wildly successful Ian St James awards launching the careers of several published authors.

2012 sees the return of Ian St James as he brings his novels to the Kindle, introducing a new audience to his explosive mix of passion and adventure.

"Ian St James has the gift of story telling" THE TIMES

"Crisp writing, strong escalating plot" THE OBSERVER

5.0 out of 5 stars TAUT WRITING, GREAT ACTION!, November 3, 1997
By
Sandra Bjorkman (Salem, Oregon USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vengeance (Paperback)
I recently finished reading Vengence, the first Ian St. James book I've read. It's a gripping story--not too far fetched--about the inside positioning inside large corporations, especially those owned by family members,
St. James hooks you with an erotic, visual opening and from there, like a blossoming flower, the story begins to unfold.

Intertwining first person, narrative and third person writing styles, St. James paints portraits rich in detail, yet without boring the reader.

If you work for a large corporation...or a growing family owned business---read VENGENCE---it's guaranteed to keep you awake!

5.0 out of 5 stars A real page turner, June 22, 2002
By
David Roberson (Walnut Creek Ca USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vengeance (Paperback)
This book caught my interest from the moment I picked up the book, until the last page when you find out what kind of "Vemgeance" the main character is planning. It is a fast read, but if you like novels similiar to a Jeffrey Archer or Sidney Sheldon type of story then you will definately not be disappointed

1.0 out of 5 stars TEDIOUS, EXCEPTIONALLY BORING BOOK, August 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vengeance (Paperback)
As a reader of everything from James Joyce to Stephen King, this book has to be in the bottom ten of everything I've ever read. The story is sooo far-fetched. The plot always conveniently turns the way the main character would like it to. And, there is about 200 pages of superflous material involving the political climate in Greece that should be left out entirely - it really makes no difference to the main storyline.

The characters are unbelievable, let alone the plot. I ended up skimming through much of the book after the first 100 pages. This is a Harlequin romance for wannabe MBA's. Thank God I didn't buy this book!
