Book Description

SIN AND VENGEANCE

...the book was spellbinding. The plotting is brilliant, and Randy is an exquisite character, an evil genius for the modern age.
--Debra Hamel

C.J. West delivers, from the highly erotic opening scene to the chilling conclusion. Sin & Vengeance is a provocative page-turner brimming with intrigue and heart-pounding suspense.
--Alynn

THE END OF MARKING TIME

... West has brilliantly portrayed a world gone crazy where the rule is there are no rules, or are they.  Crime fiction meets science fiction in this awesome thriller."
--Book Bitch

Powerful, thought provoking and massively entertaining... I loved this book and the way it made me root for someone who I knew I shouldn't like.
--CrimeSquad.com

ADDICTED TO LOVE

This book had me so hooked. I loved the plot ... unique and creative [with]  just the right about of romance, sexuality, thrills, mystery, and just plain crazy ...
--Tiffany Harkleroad, Tiffany's Bookshelf

CJ's latest offering is a blend of the thrillers we come to expect from him and a new touch of romance, actually a little steamier than just any old romance, so I like to call it a "steamy thriller."
--Roxanne

When his knee shatters on the playing field, Charlie Marston is plunged into turmoil. The fallen college superstar joins the family winemaking business, but working alongside his parents is not the future he had planned. He escapes work whenever he can and soon finds a new friend named Randy Black. Randy is part stunt-pilot, part Casanova, and part drunken Pied Piper. Randy introduces Charlie to Deirdre Deudon, the provocative wife of a French farmer. They come together in an ill-conceived stunt that explodes into consequences that chase Charlie and Randy back home to Massachusetts and change Deirdre's life forever. The after-effects of this tragic mistake bind the three of them together and threaten everything they hold dear.

From the Publisher

CJ West is a compelling young writer with a unique voice and a talent for breathing life into even his minor characters. He paints his scenes so vividly that we were proud, but not surprised, when this work was optioned for film. West has created a work so fast-paced and a plot so dynamic that readers are too enthralled to stop and unravel the intricacies on their own. Even when readers finally believe they've got it all figured out, West ends with a flourish of surprises that forces readers to consider the entire work, all the way back to the opening erotic scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars I had to remember to breathe... May 16, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I picked up a copy of C.J. West's "Sin and Vengeance", and settled in to read it after work. Several hours later, I'd had an evening of twists and turns, vivid characters, and several moments where I found myself reminding myself to breathe.

Charlie, the son of an overbearing business man, and Randy, a free-wheeling man completely unworried about repercussions, are having a threesome with an older lady, Deirdre, in a vacant farmhouse. The death of a character scatters them, but they are brought back together seemingly by fate. The sins of more than one generation come back to haunt them, and the chase is on. I was spellbound by the turn of the pages that tied in tragic past events with current day vengeance. I'm not even sure if I ate dinner that night, as I was so sucked into the book. If you want a dish of adventure, C.J. hands it to you on a platter, and liberally sprinkles twists and turns like a master chef adds eye-catching garnish. No mere parsley on the side here!

Go pick up a copy - you know that you want to!

5.0 out of 5 stars an exciting twisted thriller! May 15, 2008
Format:Paperback
This book was one of the most exciting I've read in a long time! The characters are complex-especially Randy-and the plot is intricate. I never was able to get one step ahead of Randy and his manipulations. His blinding need for revenge is astounding. The twists and turns in the book keep you on a roller coaster that ends with Charlie coming into his own and finally outwitting Randy. I could not put it down!! I hope the movie makes it to the big screen!

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much narrative, too little action August 31, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really don't understand the "I couldn't put it down" reviews for this book. I put it down, permanently, about halfway through. It just goes on and on and on without much happening to keep the readers attention. While it has good, but not excellent, plot line, it takes forever for it to unfold and even when it does, the story plods along. This is one I was really let down by after all the sterling reviews. The only reason I even gave it a two is that it is one of the best formatted Kindle books I've read - someone took their time with this one.

This was very well written and a good read, but suffered at times from a few problems. My biggest problem was how it was predictable in some of the bigger aspects. Read more

I thought this book had a different twist for a thriller...a little graphic but kept one's attention! Also I liked the author's sharp attention to each and every detail.

More About the Author

Amazon Bestselling Author C.J. West's first novel, Sin And Vengeance, was adapted for film by award-winning screenwriter Marla Cukor, and optioned into development by Beantown Productions, LLC.

Edgar nominated author, Tim Hallinan says, "C.J. West is a powerful and original writer, and I look forward to reading him for a long time."

Vincent Zandri, author of The Innocent, says, "C.J. West is one of my favorite indie authors writing today."

Avid fans insist that any mystery or suspense lover who reads Sin And Vengeance and The End of Marking Time will become a C.J. West fan.

C.J.'s Randy Black series features Sin And Vengeance, A Demon Awaits, and Gretchen Greene. The series is unusual because Randy Black undergoes a major transformation in the second book. Many readers are amazed at how strongly they root for a character they despised.

The End of Marking Time provides a touch of sci-fi as Michael O'Connor navigates a criminal justice system that substitutes counselors and monitoring technology for prisons and guards. This intense psychological novel challenges readers to consider all they know about crime and justice.

For traditional mystery readers, C.J. offers the Lorado Martin Mystery Series about a junk man who splits his time between the worlds of antiques and collectibles and his work providing housing and jobs for recovering addicts. The first book in the series, Dinner At Deadman's was released in 2012.

What was your favorite scene?
I will say a combination of all. Although the climax at Westport with its twists and surprises shows how far a wicked, trouble, and thirsty for revenge person would go to satisfy a 15 years ordeal.

Would you trust Deirdre Deudon?
I have no sympathy for Deirdre. She got what she deserved for been so naugthy and slick. Nope, I don't think she has change a bit toward the end of the book; she still the same insecure tramp. If I was a man, I will enjoy her company and take her for a ride but would not take her seriously. You... Read more

Charlie Marston
I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say he's a wimp, but he was definitely starts off rather soft. That's why even though Randy was trouble, I liked his strong personality. I did enjoy watching Charlie grow through the book culminating in the last scenes when he outwits Randy!
