5.0 out of 5 stars Will strike a chord with many...
Darcy feels that she hasn't been blessed with very much. She's not pretty, not charming and not particularly smart. The one thing she has been blessed with is her beloved family home which is, unfortunately, mortgaged to the hilt. To keep it, Darcy must meet the terms of her rich godmother's will requiring her to marry within a year in order to inherit a sum of money...

2.0 out of 5 stars Just not that good....
I bought this one based on the previous high reviews, but the plotline was really hard to buy into even for a romance book standard....

Darcy feels that she hasn't been blessed with very much. She's not pretty, not charming and not particularly smart. The one thing she has been blessed with is her beloved family home which is, unfortunately, mortgaged to the hilt. To keep it, Darcy must meet the terms of her rich godmother's will requiring her to marry within a year in order to inherit a sum of money. She has to advertise in the paper for a man willing to agree to a marriage of convenience and is shocked when a sexy hunk answers her ad. Darcy thinks he seems familiar and, boy, is she right. A few years earlier, Darcy is left at the altar and takes a trip to Italy to recover. She has a passionate one-night stand with a local man, Gianluca. She sneaks out while he is sleeping afterward and never sees him again. He spends the next few years searching for her, but not because she is the love of his life. Instead, he thinks that Darcy disappeared that night because she slept with him to steal an expensive family heirloom and he is determined to make her pay. When he answers her ad, Darcy doesn't recognize him because of her poor eyesight. It is not until after they're married that she realizes who he is, but she is completely at his mercy because she must stay married for six months to inherit. An emotional tug of war ensues, Gianluca blinded by his wounded pride and Darcy silenced by her low self-esteem. What else could possibly happen before true love triumphs? Quite a bit. Read it and see for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Romance Junkie, July 18, 2011

The Vengeful husband: This book was amazing!! It grabs you from the first pages and it does not let you go. I read this book in one afternoon just chilling by the pool. All the time I wanted to reach the end and at the same time didn't want this book to end. Luca was twenty-eight years old, drop dead gorgeous, and mega rich when Darcy crashed his party. Darcy only saw the beautiful man as well as she could see because she was blind as a bat, not wearing her lenses and stone on medication. So, high as a kite and free as a bird she practically raped the poor man. Not that Luca was complaining or anything, he fell so hard for her that he left his party and took her to his apartment. There the pages were burning up with these two people. Luca told Darcy that he would meet her at the Grand Canal the following day but when she woke up the following morning with a stranger and her now sober conscience she did what we all would do- jump out the window? I couldn't stop laughing. When Luca woke up and Darcy was gone as well as a priceless family heirloom ring "Adorata" he flipped out and knew he would track her down and make her pay. Three years later he tracks her down to a broken down estate where she's placed a listing in the paper requesting a helper for hire. The helper she needs is actually a husband so she can inherit her money and repair her broken down estate. Luca turns up and applies for the job and even accepts the job after she tells him what she really wants.
I don't want to tell you anymore of the story because it's great and I don't want to ruin it for you. I give it five stars because it's perfect. It comes complete with a wicked stepmother and step sister. Oh and did I tell you that Darcy had a baby?? Every lose end is tied up very nicely and I recommend this book highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars mesmerising, June 22, 2006
This review is from: Vengeful Husband (The Husband Hunters) (Harlequin Presents) (Paperback)
I only discovered this author recently, and believe me, she has spoilt me for author romance writers. The story "Vengeful Husband" is on of her best I have read so far, because of the humorous. I couldn't help chuckling as I read the dialogues between the hero and heroine. It's a great story about a handsome, rich, Italian out to revenge a woman he met and fell in love with three years ago, who he believed only used him to steal from him. But when he met her again, he got more than he bargained for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best in the Series, November 12, 2011
By
To me, this was by far the best book of the three in the Husband Hunters series. This was classic Graham, where the hero mistakenly thinks the worst of the heroine and seeks revenge. Even though he believes he has reason to be vengeful, his behavior to the heroine is still not that bad. Of course, he learns of his mistake before his revenge goes too far.

This book was so much better than its sequel, Contract Baby, in which the hero is too nasty for my taste. I felt this book was far more romantic than the other two in the series, and the characters were far more likable. The funny thing is that I almost didn't read it because the first book made Darcy out to be a b*tch. I'm glad I read it anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this Hero, October 8, 2011

This was my first Lynne Graham book, and I really loved it. Great alpha male, who thought he was wronged and sought revenge, and boy is he an alpha, but without being a complete jerk about it. He also listens, and accepts when he is wrong. We did not have to wait until the very last pages for him to become more human. He was hard on her, but not cruely so, and when her horrible step-mother and even more horrible step-sister start cutting her down, he defends her instantly, even though he is mad at her. I really liked this story and will most certainly buy more of Lynne's works. She is an excellent writer and I am so excited to see how she has progressed through the yeas since this one was written in the 90's.

4.0 out of 5 stars ;0), July 5, 2011
Nancy Leeward cared deeply for her goddaughters, but how had those three foolish girls repaid her love? Maxie was living with a married man, Darcy was a single mom, and Polly was being paid to bear some selfish man's child. Nancy was determined to force them into happiness . . . by stipulating in her will that her millions would only be bequeathed to each of them if they married within a year, and stayed married for six months. . . .

But Darcy's advertisement for a husband that would suit her godmother's terms turned up the shock of her life in
The Vengeful Husband

I read this book a few years back. They put all 3 books in the series Called the Prusuit. That's the book i originally review years back but decided to leave individual reviews. This was a good read for me. In order to get the money left in the will, Darcy puts an Ad in the paper. When the gentlemen who answers the ad Darcy is shocked. *****SPOILER its her child's father, only he doesn't know because he doesn't knows Darcy he thinks.

I have been a fan of Lynne Graham's for about 2 years now. She is extremely talented. Her stories have a wonderful mix of humor and intensity. I can always count on her stories to give me a great escape. She spins a beautiful fantasy and makes the impossible seem plauseable. I love her and I highly recommend any of her books. Especially " Bond of Hatred","Trophy Husband", "Heat of Passion" & "Savage Betrayal"
