4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent gift

I chose to give this toy to my 12 year old son, even though it states on the package that it is for ages 14 +. As soon as it arrived, he tore into it, with a little of my help we tweaked the trim a little, which by the way was soooo simple. He took it outside and off it went into the air. Boy, this little toy can climb. The battery inside the helicopter last for about ten minutes of flight, and recharges in less than thirty minutes. Of course my young one crashed several times before getting used to the controls, and I'll tell that this toy can take some pounding. It's best to wait until the wind is calm before trying to fly it outside. It's so light that even a gust can make it go wherever the wind blows it, but it's a lot of fun indoors too. The only reason I did not give this toy a five star rating is because of the battery cover on the radio control. My son complained that with the slightest touch it comes off. Which I think is not good because it keeps hitting the floor when it falls off, and sooner or later someone will step on it, then the batteries will always be exposed (too many children in the house). But overall a fun toy.

I have just received this awesome helicopter, i am a first time heli flyer and i just love this product. i am amazed at the power because i live above sea level so i was expecting a helicopter that used all of its power trying to lift itself into the air, but not this. this heli has two 120 size brushless stainless steel motors, top rotor stabilizer, and a "bullet proof" body, i would recommend this heli to anyone!

I bought this last Christmas for my teenage son. I was anticipating problems with a rotor or tail blade breaking and had ordered spares -- haven't been needed. We flew it for hours in the house, competing on time aloft and landing position -- it was great.

The controls worked fine. It does require some eye/hand coordination, but it didn't take us long to get used to it. It crashed into a bunch of walls and the Christmas tree, hit the ground, and was fine.

You can't just trim it and forget about it, but for the price it is great.

The part about trim problems from others -- I had the exact same issue. This thing will not hover and requires constant trimming.

4.0 out of 5 stars great until it crashes wrong..., May 8, 2009

After getting one of the 30 dollar micro-copters from my girlfriend and enjoying flying it, I wanted something I could control a bit more, so I ratcheted up a notch on the helicopter scale and got the venom ozone. It's a lot of fun, you get great control (forwards, backwards, rotate left and right, and moving up and down), and overall it crashed pretty well. This lasted for about two weeks, but as I got better with the controls, I flew closer to obstacles, and I ultimately hit a wall in such a way that the copter crashed upside down and snapped a piece near the upper main rotor blades.
The parts aren't terribly expensive, but they come from texas, so getting a few 3 or 4 dollar parts added on almost 10 dollars in shipping. I couldn't finds parts locally so I had to go this route. I then couldn't find any instructions anywhere online for taking the copter apart and putting it back together. I have a bit of technical savvy, so I actually was able to fix it and it now flies again, but it's not the same. There's a bit of wobble in the hover now, and I just crashed again last night to find a screw I'd tightened as much as I could had come loose. I'm left feeling like I need to buy another one if I want to get back to the flying I was doing before that first bad crash.
The jury's still out for me. I think I'll keep trying to fix this copter and get if flying. Like I said, it is a blast, and you do get decent control. Overall I'd recommend.
One last downside is battery life. You get about 6 or 7 good minutes for over half an hour of charge, which isn't spectacular at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Spin out of control, January 13, 2012
This review is from: Venom Ozone 3 - Ch R/C Helicopter - Black (Toy)
I flew other heli's before. This one would always spin out of control right at take off and dive! I tried everything including giving Venom a call but never got anyone to pick up the phone. Sure enough, sooner or later, the pieces went flying. Yes, broke! This thing cost way to much to act like this! Very disappointed!! Not about to by parts. And how my son feels....... I won't even get into that.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty cool, August 8, 2011

I am very pleased with the performance of this Heli. as with any Helicopter it takes some time to learn how it works. I did crash it a couple times wich was mostly my fault lol. The parts are very readily avail from venoms website and its easy to fix. once i got the feel for the controls the ozones performance was very balanced and tight. I'd have to say the only downfall is if you want 100% control there can't be any wind outside or inside. I recomend turning off the air conditioner or anything that can cause a draft. sometimes you might be able to take it outside. if u do make sure u have plenty of space. you will have a blast!

I purchased this helicopter after a bit of research on my first flying toy. I found this at an excellent price compared to others and it's much larger and more powerful. I have to say you will need a larger room or a gym to fly this. I've already got in trouble with the wife for breaking her ceiling fan light. it don't do very well outside since every slight breeze take it away.
For the most part it is easy to handle once you get the hang of it. I have crashed many times and it handle it very well, except attempting to fly outside and the rotor hit concrete steps at full speed, but they are replaceable so, it's better than the cheaper little helicopters you basically have to throw away once broken. It's a blast to fly and keeps the little kids interested from a ages 3-65 yrs old, great for the whole family but keep the little ones back the rotors sting, and can cut if you get to close (I found out the hard way on myself).
CONS are its to large for average rooms. battery life is short but average to others I've researched. Remote control feels cheap and flimsy.
PROS are its fun, challenging, lower cost, replaceable parts, easier to fly than others I've TRIED to fly.

Super fun for a while but the stability is rather poor which makes it hard to control and the durability is horrible. Be prepared to spend as much time repairing it as flying it.

I am extremely disappointed in this hellicopter. Once you spin the time to get the trim worked out you get to do it time and time again because it seems that with every flight it is off again. The trim correction does not appear to be precise enough

Over the course of the 4th of July weekend many of us took turns trying to get this hellicopter to fly with some degree of control and none of us could get it. After really working at it and really watching it the main problem appears that forward and reverse are very very slow to respond when returning the stick to the middle position, if you do a rotate left or right the rear propeller stops faster, but that is so much to try and keep up with that it leads to constant over-correction. It won't hover even in the slightest no matter how close to correct trim you have gotten. After many failed attemps outside (with the slightest of breezes) we tried in the garage... maybe we were breathing too hard in its direction?

The one thing I will give you is this thing can take a pounding which is good since flying it is almost impossible.
