An essential beginner's book, November 27, 1999
This review is from: Ventriloquism in a Nutshell (Paperback)
This was the first book from which I really learned the art of ventriloquism several years ago. And I still refer to it today. There are quite a few well written, instructive vent books out there. But if you want to learn the basics of "throwing" your voice and making puppets talk, you can do no better than to purchase VENTRILOQUISM IN A NUTSHELL.

I not only READ it...but GIFT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!, September 7, 2001
This review is from: Ventriloquism in a Nutshell (Paperback)
I can't say ENOUGH about this book (but I will obviously try!). This was one of the KEY books that helped teach me ventriloquism. Why? Because it contains many of the crucial parts of the world-famous Maher Studios ventriloquism correspondence course (it's sort of a small, condensed partial version of this all-encompassing course). If you read this compact information-filled book and practice its info you WILL learn how to talk without moving your lips and do "vent." I now perform ventriloquism fulltime and the best way to show you how much I love and believe in this little book's effectiveness is to tell you this: I routinely gift this book to some low-income kids, groups, libraries and schools. And everyone who has used it has praised it. Ventriloquism in a Nutshell is ventriloquism's no-nonsense, primer that has been TESTED, PROVEN and been around for years. Author Clinton Detweiler is a former Ventriloquist of the Year (versus a Dummy of Every Two Years, which serves in Congress). He's a legend among "vents." I only JUST discovered that this is available on Amazon...so I wanted to give this my highest POSSIBLE rating -- way ABOVE the five stars. Read it, follow its directions and IT REALLY WORKS.
