To those who thought it was nearly impossible to put together.... it wasn't that hard. It took me about 45 minutes. So don't be scared off by those who added up all the little bits.

I am happy that i bought it. The top is not varnished, but it is oiled. It is sturdy and rolls nicely, the wheels on one side can lock in place, which is nice. Mine is up against a wall so the little mini pantry and towel holder can't be used- as i expected and was fine with. It might make a good spice rack though- if you get the tall containers.

My only issue is that it is a bit expensive to ship, but otherwise its a great item and adds a lot of surface space to my kitchen.

This thing is great. It is easy to assemble unless you're an absolute spaz--then maybe you could get your ten-year-old to put it together. I use it daily for food prep, and I move wherever I want it. It is great for bringing a work station close to the stove for things like canning. I do my cutting right on the wood top, and bleach it clean every week or so. It rolls easy on the casters, which makes it great when you want to wash your kitchen floor--you can just wheel it right out of the way.
It is by no means a high end item. It is inexpensive and functional, which is just fine with me. I cook a lot, and find this island perfectly adequate to my purposes. The shelving front and back gives me more storage, and I like having my trash out of the way in the bin.
This is a great and inexpensive upgrade to your kitchen.

...this absolutely does NOT hold a standard, 13 gallon trash can (not a 13 gallon can that *I* can find, anyway). My husband and I could only get an 11 gallon one to fit, which yes, isn't bad, but considering we had previously purchased a 13 gallon can in anticipation of receiving this unit, it's a bit disappointing. Not a huge loss of money either way, just a little frustrating. Takes a while to assemble, but once together, it's very nice and we are happy with it. Just know that you need to get an 11 gallon can to fit this unit, not a 13.

My husband had this put together in about 45 minutes. The quality is pretty much what I expected. The butcher block top is nice but the drawer is on the cheap (thin) side. I like the pull out bin which we use for recyclables. BUT IT DOES NOT FIT A 13 GALLON BIN get an 11 gallon. Overall, this was a good purchase for what we wanted and I would recommend this to friend!

First: the biggest disappointment was that the top is not a stained top, just a solid, unfinished light wood when it arrived, which is ok, because I could sand it and stain it, but I expected the darker top as displayed in the picture.

Otherwise, its really awesome -- I found that the paper towel holder was almost completely useless, but that wasn't too surprising. It did take quite a while to put together, but most of the pieces are marked, so after a little organization it became a lot more clear.

I would not have been able to pick up the box, it was *very* heavy, but rolling it around on the casters is really easy. The shelves are a good size, perfect for my set of plates and some extras at the bottom. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to be able to use the small "pantry" shelves on the back of the trash bin. They're just too small for much of anything it seems.

Overall, I'm totally satisfied, as I didn't find anything else that came close to meeting my requirements.

A bit difficult to assemble. I trashed the cheap roller feet and bought some nice wooden ball feet which I painted white. The butcher block top arrived rather bowed, but mysteriously straightened out once inside for a few days. The butcher block top is somewhat thin and skimpy - and required staining and varnish after assembly. We are somewhat disappointed because we could have bought a better table fully assembled at Target. The trash can hopper feature is nice, but we had to modify the holder slightly to allow it to close fully. Overall, we're happy but think we spent a much for this marginal product.

Directions were difficult and i muddled through them but there were a few extremely important parts near the end where there were no instructions. Since you use glue beware, ended up having to pry apart to redo the last few steps that were left out. Broke parts of it in the process. Very cheap construction and the door will NOT shut all the way no matter what, discovered this before and it is due to the side panel being mis aligned in the design. If i would have know what a cheap piece this was i would have happily spent $200 more and bought a better brand / quality.

1 - the number of boxes it takes for shipment of this item
11- the number of pages in the instruction booklet
23 - the number of wood pieces (panels, shelves) you'll have to put together
145 - the number of screws, bolts, anchors, wooden dowels etc. you'll use to put the 23 pieces together
Yes, I counted.

It looks great, don't get me wrong but it took me 3 hours to put it together and I still managed to end up with 2 pieces and a few screws on the side. I'm not an idiot, I've put plenty of things together before but this is really a task. I reread the instructions to see where I went wrong and NO WHERE in the 11 pages of poorly sketched instructions did it say where to put item "G". Also, part (most) of the assembly uses wood glue (included) ... if you screw up you can't undo it without wrecking the white siding on the panels. Another downside of the instruction manual, it doesn't tell you which side is up, left, right, down etc. I managed to put together an entire part backward because I didn't know if the "raw" side was supposed to be up or down. It's very confusing and frankly not worth the hassle.

It looks great in my kitchen and it serves its purpose ... but it's not by any means perfect and for the $$$ plus shipping you might find something better.
