The Venus Effect is 10 tracks of smooth, sophisticated rhythms. The depth and passion in the music both relaxes and energizes.

"The Venus Effect", the lastest release by Chill Factor-5 is a musical procession in the now. It's eclectic combination of cultural influences express a celebration of the cherished women in our lives. The use of rhythms sets the pace to which the listener is guided through it's composition. It embraces the listener and imparts the feeling of nurturement.

The Venus Effect has become a staple in my car as I drive around to too many places. It really does take you away to another place, one always better then you were before. Tracks 3 & 4 are my personal favorites, as I will probably ruin the disc haveing it set on repeat so often!

Like the ocean waves that open this remarkable CD, I was carried away by sinuous rhythms, hooky melody and a large pallete of colorings. To be fair, I have heard earlier works by this Maurice guy. DAMN! No wonder his prior work was Grammy Nominated. I want to point out just how hard it is to buttonhole or catagorize this music without leaving out an influence. This is an artist working at the highest level. From the upbeat lilt of Venus Effect, to the snarky samples of Welcome to Paradise, to the fluidly driven guitar of Full Moon played by major guest Vinnie Zummo(love them Zummofied guitars), to the not oft asked question of "has cool Flugelhorn ever been served better than on Six in The Twilight?", the range of this CD accompanied by its focus is a thing to behold....and hear!

have been listening to this amazing cd for the last few weeks . i love it and it lives in my cd player now. i listen when driving back and forth to work and it never fails to take me away to my happy place . there is so much warmth in this collection. i picture soft sand ,warm blue water, soft perfect air and bright sun .

the music journey starts with the stunningly beautiful ocean of love sea of compassion and continues on thru several very interesting tracks to the final song, the very sensual tulum sac be which never fails to take my breathe away. that is the place i want to be visiting right now. i play that one track over and over, its that lovely.

the whole cd is a seriously sophisticated sexy mix of ambient tracks , jazziness , funk, and soulfulness mixed with some ethnic beats here and there that all flow so well into each other and it winds up being one interesting and beautiful package.

as a side ,this music is a definite departure from my " norm " but am liking it actually liking it a lot . i also learned that the previous chillfactor-5 cd SUN FLOWER JAZZ was grammy nominated last year . after listening no surprise there , only surprise was why it didnt win.
it too is a seriously beautiful cd and i recommend a listen.

The first track resonated with me instantly. I'll never tire of it. Every time I listen to 'The Venus Effect' I hear something I hadn't before. I'm a lover of jazz, funk, chamber and classical music, but very selective - phrasing matters, the arrangement matters, some conductors have a greater understanding of a certain composer's work than another and this can be felt. I'm surprised, very surprised at how much I am enjoying 'The Venus Effect.'

I think this CD is even better than the last - nice work Chill Factor 5! I find that the richly textured and layered sounds provide a perfect backdrop for the various melodies. This collection holds together well while taking the listener through many different styles - sometimes slow, earthy and warm, and sometimes bluesy, jazzy and funky.

This is an awesome collection of music. Definitely a "must have" for anyone who appreciates and enjoys incredible talent.

This is a journey of really cool music. If the last cd Sunflower Jazz was nominated for a Grammy - well this one is right up there.
