4.0 out of 5 stars iPAQ.info Veo Compact flash
This is a very simple camera. Don't expect bells and whistles with this camera. The best resolution is 640x480. After taking a few pictures the jpeg was about 45k. You can specify an alternate path, so you can store the images out on a flash card, nice touch. There is some room to change the brightness, which does help some. The product seems a little flimsy, cheap...

1.0 out of 5 stars Because of Design, Doesn't Work With All PDA's
This item seemed to be the right price at the right time. My eagerness to try this product out was matched by the speed of the shipping (thank you Amazon.com).

SO... after work, I installed the drivers and software and plugged the device into my Audiovox Maestro (for those in the know, this is simply the Toshiba e570 with less RAM and sold under another manufacturer)...

1.0 out of 5 stars Because of Design, Doesn't Work With All PDA's, January 30, 2003
This review is from: Veo V600000 Photo Traveler for Pocket Pc (Electronics)
This item seemed to be the right price at the right time. My eagerness to try this product out was matched by the speed of the shipping (thank you Amazon.com).

SO... after work, I installed the drivers and software and plugged the device into my Audiovox Maestro (for those in the know, this is simply the Toshiba e570 with less RAM and sold under another manufacturer). BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. Going over the troubleshooting in the manual, it said to make sure it was plugged in and to make sure that the pocket pc worked. THAT'S IT!!!

After waiting quite some time for a response from their email tech support, I hunted down the number of this place (Xirlink d/b/a Veo). For those wondering, it is (408) 324-2100.

Anyway, FINALLY got someone in tech support and was told that, because of the EVER SO SLIGHT rounding at the top of the Maestro, the camera was about 2 mm too short for the contacts on the prongs.

Also, I would like to confirm that the construction is flimsy. I would have liked to have tried this item out... but I didn't get to! :(

You can specify an alternate path, so you can store the images out on a flash card, nice touch. There is some room to change the brightness, which does help some. The product seems a little flimsy, cheap plastics. However, if you need to take quick pictures and quality is not an issue, this little camera will seem to do the trick. Included is a sleek carrying case and software for your PC to create albums. After taking a few snapshots I did notice the battery did drain, and my iPAQ is the older 3635, which is notorius for quick discharges. My idea is to use the camera and a compatible MS Access database to capture people that I meet, so I can finally remember who I meet.

I too just purchased a VEO Photo Traveler for a Dell Axim, and experienced the same problem as a previous review described. Because of the off-center positioning of the CF card slot and the slightly rounded top of the Axim, the card would not seat properly. I spoke with VEO tech support and they indicated that they had two separate versions of this product and had made a version specifically for Dell that I guess is only available on the Dell web site :(.

I am working on getting an exchange with them right now, but from a product marketing standpoint, I would think that they need to improve their descriptions of which PPCs this will fit in.

Tech Support for Veo is 408-474-0494.

3.0 out of 5 stars The solution for Dell Axim users, April 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Veo V600000 Photo Traveler for Pocket Pc (Electronics)
I called VEO before ordering this product. I was told that if I receive the Pocket Traveler for Pocket PC and the last three digits of the serial number end in a number lower than 960, it would be too short for the Dell Axim by 2mm. I was instructed to RMA the product I receive and they will ship out the newer model that works.

I had the same experience as swodonnell. The Camera will not seat fully in my Dell Axim and therefore the CF card connection is not complete. Net of this is that the product will not work with my pocket PC.

I bought this camera for my new Dell Axim. I notcied that Dell was promoting it, so I figure I trust Dell. It came in the mail the other day. It is soo cool. It comes with this cool case, it was really easy to install, as well as use. No wonder Dell recomended it-- and now so will I!

2.0 out of 5 stars 1/3 megapixels and out-of-focus . . . a toy, August 31, 2005

The Veo's V600000 name belies its capabilities. 600000 (six hundred thousand) is a far cry from one third a megapixel. Don't expect prints larger than a business card.
Focusing is merely guesswork . . . I suggest enscribing a distance scale rather than focusing by eye.
However, it is a toy, and fun for about five minutes. Its true value may be as a mini-camcorder; for instance if you are ever in an accident, it may prove useful to your insurance adjuster. I tried to use it to photocopy a newspaper article (like a Minox) but have failed.
