5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Pop, sexier than Soul and all of the above!
Clearly a change of gears for BMG/RCA's Jennifer Brown who's previous releases have sounded more like formula than this surprisingly great new release, Vera. She's taken her sound up a few notches with a new producer (Billy Mann; Celine Dion, Hall/Oates, Chaka Khan) and a great sounding band that lifts her to new heights. I bought this CD because I heard the artists version of "Alive," which happens to be the original one of the song heard in revamped form on Paul Van Dyk's "Out There and Back." I bought the CD used from amazon.com, and, after my first listen I was glad that I did not spend the money and pay full price. Aside from "Alive," there are only two other songs that I found...

Stand out songs include "Alive," Tuesday Afternoon," and "Two in The Morning." Brown is dynamic, seductive and soulful and shows her best side on this very musical new release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Personal, fresh & sexy album, October 17, 2000

The first time I heard Jennifer Brown was on the radio with the hit "Tuesday Afternoon". It imediately hit me with a real stylish, sleek and fresh feeling. After buying the album and listening to the other tracks I find this a very varied CD with a blend of different kinds og moody songs. Everything from happy to sad songs. The texts are very personal, direct and wrapped in together with Jennifer's tender voice it gives her a real sexy appeal without being blunt. I think the musicians have done a real nice job getting the best out of this tender, but at the same time powerful artist in her intimate expressions. This album is definitely one of my favourites! My advise:Buy it and listen for yourself!

This album is rare since it is great all the way through. The songs are all written by Jennifer herself and contains all the feeling and personality you would want from an album. All songs have their on style and mood, some are happy and some are sad but they all have in common their ground of reality. This cd holds a special place in my recordcollection, it should in yours too.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, October 5, 2011

Jennifer has one of the best voices I have ever heard. It is such pleasure to listen to her. The song has great melodies and the lyrics are touching and also complex. The perfect mix for me.
So many gereat songs in this album "Tuesday Afternoon", "Nobody knows me like you do", "Naked", "Trembling", "Two In the Morning" and I could go on and on. I just don't understand why this album was only released in Japan, but I so glad I found it on amazon. I wish to get more songs from Jennifer Brown, she has bee "off the scene" for som time if I don't count the 2009 apperance on the Swedish Eurovision song contest. Also there, she has the best song "Never been here Before". If she just got the backing (like the made up stars), she would be a superstar. She got the voice, the looks and the gift of making her own songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars They wouldn't let me write a second review for HOME, so here it is., October 29, 2006

I love her CDs. Vera was one of my favorites, until I listend to HOME>
Well people. Here it is, another month later, and guess what?
I'm still playing this over and over.
What I can't figure out is WHY ISN'T SHE A STAR HERE IN THE US?
As I said in my previous review, I am a musician, and playing piano,
and saxophone doesn't have anything to do with the smooth jazz I like to play on my own.
This woman's voice is just TOO sexy!! I know what you're thinking.
What an old dude. I have listened to others over and over, like Chante, Maysa, Jann Johnson, Khani Cole... They all have fantastic arrangements, and have put forth a plethora of great music.
This lady however just does something of her own. It is her, it is her music. The songs are unique, and arrangements are perfect.
Well, maybe I some of you will try her from this, and others won't.
On my part, I just can't stop putting on my headphones, and plugging her in. This is pure magic... Trust me.. I know music.

Jennifer Brown got stuck in my head a few years ago on a visit to Stockholm while finishing a book. Now I'm in the US Navy halfway around the world in Japan, wishing I had bought more of her CDs. Good luck trying to get these unforgettable tracks out of your head. PL
