A must read if you are interested in ballet! If not...it's still a must read, because it is a reviting story about an amazing woman.

This review is from: Vera Volkova: A Biography (Hardcover)
This is a great book about one of the most important people to shape ballet in the twentieth century: a dancer, choreographer, and the most expert of teachers. Among the many well-known dancers either trained or polished by her are Eric Bruhn, Rudolph Nureyev, and Peter Martins. Very quickly after defecting in 1961, Nureyev made his way to Copenhagen where she lived to study with her and gain some of the qualities he admired in Eric Bruhn's dancing. A fair number of photos are included, and the author has an agreeable writing style. An exceptional book, regardless of whether you're a dance enthusiast or not.
