5.0 out of 5 stars My DVDs arrived fine...
My DVDs arrived fine, and were packaged adequately. No complaints about the discs themselves either, as they're MCC media code, and have never failed me, and I've been using Verbatim for years.

For anyone complaining about shipping problems, particularly the person who claims they got a bunch damaged, and aren't going to do anything about it, just call up...

3.0 out of 5 stars Verbatim: once the best, now roulette of mnufacturers
Verbatim was for a long time the last bastion that of quality brand that made its own disks, via their holding company Mitshibishi (MCC). The last verabatim 8x +r's I got ended up as CMC, a much lower quality manufacturer. too bad.

My DVDs arrived fine, and were packaged adequately. No complaints about the discs themselves either, as they're MCC media code, and have never failed me, and I've been using Verbatim for years.

For anyone complaining about shipping problems, particularly the person who claims they got a bunch damaged, and aren't going to do anything about it, just call up Amazon at 1-800-201-7575 and let them know. You'll get a replacement order shipped out, most likely with free two-day shipping, and a return label to return the damaged media. Can Amazon mess up at times with their packaging? Yes. Do they always solve things in a nice and timely manner? Yes. Just call them up. Don't sit there and pretend you have no recourse.

Have burned about 40 DVDs from various level in the spindle. NO coasters so far ! And at 33/34 cents per DVD it is a very very good deal. Not sure about the speed since I am converting my camcorder tapes to DVD ( using Philips DVD Recorder ). Believe me you don't want any problems with DVD if you are doing this since repetition is too time consuming.

Will strongly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genuine MCC003, highly recommended, May 31, 2005

My two spindles turned out to be MCC-003-000. Did a test burn on a Plextor PX-712A - 4480 MB at 12X - scanned with PlexTools Pro on the same; the scan was simply amazing (PIE under 10, PIF under 3). Not even genuine Taiyo Yuden burns this well on my setup.

The discs have matte finish tops which is handy against dust and fingerpints.

I FIND THE VERBATIM MEDIA BLANKS TO BE AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT.THEY ARE COMPATIBLE WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPUTER BURNERS,AND HOME DVD RECORDERS,THAT USE THESE BLANKS.WHEN YOU BURN YOUR HOME MOVIES OR DATA FILES,THEY ARE THERE TO STAY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED,AND INEXPENSIVE.

I just bought this a few days ago, so far so good. It only burns at 8x on my NEC ND-3500AG with 2.18 or 2.19 firmware though on the package it says it may be able to be burned at 12x with supported hardware (Some plextors and NEC ND-3540, not sure about others). If anyone is wondering, this is the good stuff.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrid longevity--archiving is near impossible, February 22, 2007
This review is from: Verbatim 8x 4.7 GB DVD+R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
Personally, I purchased these discs because the manufacturer of my DVD burner recommended this brand as fully compatible. Well, they burn no problem and read without a hitch for about 2-3 months. BUT, try to read discs burned over 6 months ago, and it becomes extremely difficult for the drive to read it. If reading the entire disc, it takes 20+ times of recleaning and re-inserting the disc to eventually get it all. Once they are over a year from burning DVD players will freeze up half-way through playing it. This does it for me for write-once DVD's. Now that +RW's are cheaper and newer DVD players can play them, I'm just sticking to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great discs - Great deal - Lousy shipping, July 2, 2005
This review is from: Verbatim 8x 4.7 GB DVD+R (100-Pack Spindle) (Electronics)
Verbatim discs are great. The only problem about ordering from Amazon is that they have slow shipping and terrible packing. I ordered two spindles and BOTH spindles were busted wide-open in the box when I received it. The box is flimsy and the inflatable packaging is not even placed on all sides around the product. I'm burning the discs that were not damaged and the rest are in the trash, so I got a fraction of the product I paid for. I should have paid more attention to the other reviews. I'll be willing to pay more to someone else next time... someone who knows how to pack their product.

I've burned more than30 on my Lite-On SOHW 1673s DVD-RW and not a single problem. I highly recommend them to anyone. the spindle was kinda shattered due to rough shipping but fortunately no disk fell off.

Theses DVDs are worthed every penny. don't go for anything less.

MMC huh? Verbatim is a reseller and/or distributor only? Only half the picture painted here folks. Verbatim is hugely into R&D and is on the cutting edge of optical media above and beyone most of your popular brands (TDX, Memorex, Ritek etc.). They are actually a subsidary or Mitsubishi Chemical and this media is outstanding!
