Installation REQUIRES manually mapping the drive, entering drive names and passwords. THEN it wouldn't transfer a file over 100kBytes! I finally returned it after 3 calls to India for customer support.
I bought an I/OMega unit (same specs) "Home Media Network Hardrive". It took 5 minutes to connect it and run the CD. PnP!

I got this drive in early march 2010.

It is still working, I use it About 2-3 times a week.

Dlna works, but kinda slow, I mean, I have it connected to a linksys router with gigabit connection and running dd-wrt, and the best transfer I've seen is about 10mbps, but usually is something around 2-3mbps.

You can install a BitTorrent client and have it connected to the Internet, but the overall interface is clunky (web-based). Deep down, this is just a Linux box with very limited hardware and a embedded web server as a user interface.

Even with the iTunes server active, I can see the device from iTunes in my pc, but it will not let me stream my stored music. However, I own a Samsung blu ray player and I'm able to stream both music and video (not the same protocol). If I use xbmc on my pc, it will stream just fine, so I guess it has something wrong with apple protocols.

Since I own this nas, there have not been any kind of software update. You can set up users, quotas and permissions, but i do not find it very user friendly.

I haven't used the USB ports, but I'm pretty sure you would have to format your usb drives to ext file system to work on this nas, since it will detect all drives as permanent drives, not removable ones.

Honestly, I only use it as a secondary backup for several files that I have, I just copy them via FTP.

I haven't tried samba, but when I boot fedora on my pc, it does not get recognized anywhere.

I think I'm going to get one of those Synology nas diskstation.
