It will charge a little, then stop, then you would have to turn it off, and on, again.

The connector that comes with the battery is very short, but I have plenty of USB connectors to switch out.

I also would have liked Verbatim to have included a nice cloth storage bag with the product.

Update:
The Verbatim battery pack is still going song on Jun 19th, 2014. Unfortunately, I have a new love: Belkin Travel Power Pack 9000 with 1 Amp and 2.5 Amp Dual USB Ports - Frustration-Free Packaging - Black. The Belkin solves most of the problems that I had with the Verbatim, although, it also doesn't have any rubber feet or coatings to keep it in one place on a bumpy road.

Original Review below:

I've been using the verbatim battery pack for several months, most recently on a very long trip to a foreign country.

Overall I find the battery pack to be good in several areas:
1) it charges an iPhone many times, and quickly.
2) I find the shape to be very good, it slips into a backpack very easily because it is nice and flat.
3) it has 3 sockets: one for input which is a mini usb, and two for output charge which is normal USB. Having the charge be miniusb is good, it's a standardized cable and I never make a mistake when I want to charge it.
4) one night I plugged my iPhone into it, turned it on, and fell asleep. The next morning my iPhone was fully charged and the battery pack showed 2/3 full still. I was pleased.

It has a few shortcomings.
1) when I charge my iPad 2.5 (latest version at the time of this review) the verbatim unit gets VERY hot. And after it charges the iPad 8% it seems to stop charging the iPad, the % charge on the iPad starts DECREASING. This is when I am using the iPad port (it's marked). This happened regardless of whether the iPad is on or off when charging (when the iPad is off and it's charging, the iPad tops out at about +8% charge and just stops).

Given the increasing use of electronics that run on sweet electrical power, who amongst use has not been out and been unable to use an IPod, or Kindle or something else because of a lack of a available outlet. As someone who travels somewhat frequently, there is nothing more frustrating than arriving at a layover airport and needing a charge, only to find no available outlet, a spot not convienient to the next flight, or only minutes available for that full recharge.

This item really fits the bill in my opinion.

1.) What is in the box?: You receive a small black box about the size of a Kindle Fire, with two USB cords and two different ends; one cord contains a USB mini cord and one contains a Micro USB cord. Plus, you receive short instructions.

2.) Aesthetic: Probably not my first consideration, but this things is small and lightweight. It is VERY similar to the Kindle Fire in weight (a little less than a Fire) and size. It is relatively thin. It is a box, but the glossy plastic is nice and it looks like a quality build. There are three receptacles at one end, two USB ports and a charger MicroUSB port for charging the box plus a simple power slide at one end. The box has a white Verbatim logo on one side. Three small blue LED's give the estimated power level for your use with three being a max charge and none being out of juice.

3.) How does it work?: After being instructed to charge the item overnight via a home charger (I used the Energizer Dual USB charger). I tried to charge an Iphone with this thing. This did not work. When all else fails, read the instructions.! After learning that there is , in fact, a power slide to turn this thing on, I immediately saw my Iphone being charged.

QUICK SUMMARY: This portable USB power pack does what it's supposed to do. Unlike other portable units, it's easy to recharge this unit using any mini USB cord. A few missing features would make this a 5-star product, though.

WHAT I LIKE:

- Recharges my iPhone several times over before the power pack itself needs to be recharged
- The slide switch for on/off makes it very hard to accidentally turn on the power pack while traveling
- The blue LED lights indicate how much of a charge is left in the power pack
- It can be recharged using any mini USB cord, not a specialty-fit power cord like other units I've had
- It has a separate USB port to power the iPad, which requires a higher-than-usual USB power source

WHAT COULD BE BETTER:

- I accidentally left the power switch set to the ON position, and the power pack eventually discharged itself (from the glowing LED lights, maybe?). Would be nice to have it automatically turn-off if it senses no outflow from the USB ports.
- I'd prefer a % indicator over LED lights that give a more precise measurement of how much energy is still stored in the power pack.

Conclusion: A great choice, overall. It's easy to power-up your small devices while on-the-go or in places where you don't have easy access to an AC outlet or other power supplies.

It will charge a little, then stop, then you would have to turn it off, and on, again. This gets a bit tiring and annoying after a while.
