Irene at her best
Having had the pleasure of seeing Irene perform live in Italy during her Verderossoblu 'tour estivo 2000', I will say that she has returned to her roots of pop/rock, as opposed to more of a 'funky' beat in per fortuna purtoppo album, and it definitely works for her. This album is solid from start to finish, combining her great voice with acoustic/electric guitars, drums...

Irene Grandi - a good singer.
This is a good work of Irene but when you are linsten the songs you the first time enjoy yourself, the second time make a bit more attention to the text, the third time you fall completly in depression. The text of the songs are a milkshake of word: absolutely nosense. Ah, well, the music is good instead. I read an other review... this is NOT ABSOLUTELY AN EXAMPLE OF...

Irene at her best, December 22, 2000
Having had the pleasure of seeing Irene perform live in Italy during her Verderossoblu 'tour estivo 2000', I will say that she has returned to her roots of pop/rock, as opposed to more of a 'funky' beat in per fortuna purtoppo album, and it definitely works for her. This album is solid from start to finish, combining her great voice with acoustic/electric guitars, drums of course, keyboards/synthesizer, and some special "phase" sound effects. All songs are keepers, and there is a nice balance between pop/rock songs with an "edge", to songs you'd be best to have someone special nearby. Irene's slower tracks can evoke a little emotion/passion if you're not careful. Tracks #1 & #2 (title track) are nice little pop/rockers along with #8 & #9, but my favorite tracks include #3-Tutta Diversa (Come Mi Vuoi), a mellow song that let's Irene's passion come through, and #6-Limbo, a sexy song with some special phase effects. True to her form, irene saves the best for last, and puts perhaps her most compelling song of the album as the last track (#11-Rido Senz'anima) to keep you hooked. If you're not familiar with Irene, I'd almost recommend starting out with track #11, then track #3 to get you warmed up before starting at track #1 for a great journey through the album. As I indicated in a review of a previous irene album, you don't need to 'parlo italiano' to throughly enjoy her CD! As a side note, "on stage" she combines a bit of the sweetness/beauty of Meg Ryan with a lot of energy, and a touch of Courtney Love edgyness, if you can imagine that. Her voice, energy and vocal range is something special to see/hear.

Giving justice to the name "Grandi", June 2, 2001
This review is from: Verderossoeblu - Sanremo 2000 (Audio CD)
What a stunning surprise! Irene Grandi is quite comparable to Carmen Consoli; however, she spans further in different directions. With the help of the undeniable Vasco Rossi on Sanremo's "La tua regazza sempre" and collaboration with Sheryl Crow on "Limbo," Grandi belts out some memorable songs. Her voice is distinctive and creative and most definitely memorable. "Eccezionale" will have you singing its corus on a regular basis and "Sto peggiorando," with its Jovanotti-ish hook, is definitely worth repeating a couple times in a row. This album will attack your senses in every way possible.

Fantastico!, December 18, 2000
Having been turned on to Irene by Italian friends back in the first album era, she has maintained my interest by releasing increasingly strong material. I don't speak Italian (or any language other than English for that matter!) but she has an incredibly sexy voice, and the songs are very melodic, enabling even I to sing along to! This album is perhaps more 'guitar' orientated than her previous albums but her vocals accompany the instrument so well! It is difficult to decide which album is best! All are fantastic but this is slightly more edgy. As for the lyrical content - I have absolutley no idea!

Good CD, December 12, 1999
Hard, edgy vocals. Nice variety of tracks between rock and ballads. Good example of Italian pop music.

questa hay, un imprezione..., December 14, 2000
I heard this in Italy this spring and absolutely fell in love with it. I don't speak Italian, but I do speak Spanish and found listening to her very enjoyable as well as the language. It's very pop/rock and her vocals are superb! I really don't know much about the Italian pop scene except for those who record in Spanish (i.e. Nek, Laura Pausini, Eros Ramazzotti, etc.) but I really enjoyed Irene. I would love to hear her earlier work and can't wait for a new release. My favorite track is #2.

SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!, April 4, 2001
This review is from: Verderossoeblu - Sanremo 2000 (Audio CD)
I love Irene Grandi, she is definitely the BEST female singer EVER! Carmen Consoli, Elisa, Mietta, and Laura Pausini are all great Italian singers, but IRENE GRANDI IS PERFECT!! She proved it by recording this great album!!!!All the tracks in this album ROCK!!!

The text of the songs are a milkshake of word: absolutely nosense. Ah, well, the music is good instead. I read an other review... this is NOT ABSOLUTELY AN EXAMPLE OF GOOD ITALIAN ROCK OR BALLADS... if you are looking for that search Luciano Ligabue, this is a good artist (and the song has a real text)
