This is a wonderful recording containing some of Verdi's most memorable moments, with one of (if not the) greatest sopranos of all time. Callas has always been my favorite soprano and she sings just about everything wonderfully. This Verdi recording is no exception, Callas soars through these arias with the utmost grace, yet still gives the power that some of these arias call for. She is one of the all time great Verdi performers, and this recording proves it. The second disc is a bonus DVD with three (3) arias sung by Callas on it. 1).Massenet's "Je' ne suis que faiblesse" from Mannon. 2.) Bellini's "Oh! se una volta sola....Ah, non creeda mirarti" from La sonnambula. 3.) And Puccini's "O mio babbino caro" from Gianni Schicchi. All three are done wonderfully with excitement and beauty. The DVD also has about 30 min. of extra excerpts of performances from EMI's classics DVD archive which are fascinating. Don't hesitate to purchase this CD, its classic Verdi from a classic voice.

Great for Callas fans and those who are just discovering her genius. The DVD is a great plus. I loved it.

I love opera. One day I was in my car listening to a Maria Callas cd and my 5 year old granddaughter was with me; she was so impressed that she asked me if I had a DVD of Maria Callas. So ofcourse I went to Amazon and got it.. Both my grandchild and I loved it.

To Mr. Bowersock's review here, I can only add "amen." The three MACBETH arias are truly superb and make you wish she and Gobbi had gotten together at EMI to record the opera. Wonder why it never happened?
