I really enjoyed this book. As a bookseller, I go through tons of books myself. This was a light, fun read. Cornick does a very good job of entertaining several side story lines without detracting from the main event. This is a clean book- for those who care about such things. I do, and it was refreshing.

I look forward to reading 'The Virtuous Cyprian' and 'Lady Polly' which include characters from this book.

One I enjoyed.

A Regency delight!

I very much liked the plot and the characters in this book. For the most part this is a light, fun read. That being said I had a slight problem with the punctuation. It seemed every sentence of the dialogue ended with an exclamation point! It made me feel as if the characters were shouting at me! And it wasn't just a select few! It was all of them! Even the minor characters with only one sentence! It gave the impression that every character was either hard of hearing or extremely excited!!

this book started with promise but I quit after about 100 pages in. The main problem was the lack of chemistry and not enough indication that these two characters were falling for each other, and too much barb throwing and battling betwwen the two.

I feel if the author would have got the issue of Miss Verey not wedding the hero's brother, as well as get the romance between the hero/heroine underway sooner, than it would have been a better book.
