Powerful deep cleaner,
This review is from: Verilux CFML36BVLX Twilight Mini Ultra Replacement Bulb (Kitchen)
I hired "Stanley Steemer" to clean the carpet in one of my rooms. They did such a poor job that I decided not to let them work on the rest of the rooms. I bought the widepath, and it has already begun to pay for the almost $300 I paid for it. Not only can it remove stains, but also sucks up the dirty water quick enough that the carpet feels barely damp afterwards. The brushes do a great job of cleaning, and changing water and emptying recovery tank is very easy. Its a heavy machine (Lowes' website says it is about 13.75 lbs - that is SO wrong!), but it needs to be to dig down into the carpet and deep clean.

JUNK!! Crap!! BEWARE!!,
This review is from: Verilux CFML36BVLX Twilight Mini Ultra Replacement Bulb (Kitchen)
I have now replaced the clean water and detergent tank three times because it cracked and leaked!! What a piece of junk!! Hoover Customer Service is an oxy-MORON they have no service and all they say is there is nothing they can do! How about stepping up to the plate and admitting that the cleaner is of poor design and offering a new REDESIGNED tank that doesn't crack and leak after a couple of uses! What happened to the day when a manufacturer actually stood behind there inferior products......or better yet didn't make cheap crap and then hoist it on an unsuspecting customer! Goodbye Hoover and maytag for that matter I am forever burned. You no what they say.....burn me once your fault, burn me twice my fault! PS they need to add a zero star category!!!!!

I bought this steam cleaner, which was the more expensive one, thinking that it would last at LEAST 2 years with no problems. The fourth time I used it (and I'm only using it in one room where our ferrets live), the brushes stopped spinning. After pulling it apart, I found that the one little plastic knob/stick that turns all 6 brushes had snapped off. So, I now have to replace the entire spinbrush section (for $24.00 online). Then, I found that the upper tank was leaking tons of water - it couldn't even hold the water for more than 3 minutes. After again taking it apart, I noticed a large crack in the bottom of the tank. Now, I have to replace that for $55.00. I imagine that it got cracked when I had to repeatedly try to put the tank in place - which is extremely cumbersome and tricky. I am going to replace the parts since I paid several hundred dollars for the darn thing. All the "gadgets" don't mean much when the machine doesn't work....

My SteamVac Dual V cleans like a $300 cleaner should: great! But the tank cracks EVERY TIME I USE IT. And yes, it has the new, heavier tank. It has had the tank replaced five times!!!!!!! I'm an engineer and I can tell you why: Hoover chose a clear, fragile plastic for the tank for cosmetic reasons when they should have gone with a more durable, translucent plastic. The original units had tanks that were paper thin. Mine was actually broken before I took it out of the box! When the broken tanks started pouring back in to the repair shops, Hoover redesigned them a little thicker but using the same brittle plastic. Yes, Hoover repaired mine multiple times for free, but now that the warranty's gone, it's of course broken and I'm stuck with a like-new, unusable, broken cleaner. And if I buy a repair tank, that'll break too.DO NOT BUY A HOOVER, NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU ABOUT THE "IMPROVED" TANK! IT'LL JUST BREAK YOUR HEART AND WHEN THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT, YOU'LL BE PAYING FOR THE REPLACEMENT TANKS YOURSELF. Look for a company that cares a little more about quality.

My Steamvac of about 10 years ago was a real workhouse with never a problem. I updated for the neat new features; and what a terrible surprise. The parts are extremely thin plastic that fit together poorly. Even with a new water tank, the solution runs down the back of the vacuum on the floor and inside the base of the vacuum in a few minutes. The brushes work occassionally. The water pickup is quite good if the lid is just perfectly in place. The roter brush hand tool would be great except all the water in the tank immediately makes one big puddle in the floor. This has been costly disappointment. The company has sold to Maytag; and it appears it will be discontinued. I bought this from eBay used and kept adding new parts to save my initial investment; since returning it would have cost me almost $100 shipping & restocking fees. I have now spent more than a new one costs; and have nothing.

Rinse Don't work!!,
This review is from: Verilux CFML36BVLX Twilight Mini Ultra Replacement Bulb (Kitchen)
I just bought this for 5 days, and thought of using it today. The autorinse/wash works but if you want to just rinse the carpet you just washed, it did not even work at all. What a piece of crap!!! They should have checked it before they sell it to the public!! Now my carpet is slightly wet, and I have to use hair dryer to dry my carpet. My husband just called the customer service, and the customer service was not even helpful instead he told my husband to return it to the store. The customer service man don't even explain to us what's wrong with it. Hoover used to be a good company with good quality vacuum cleaner /steamer. Now it's customer service sucks as well as the quality of the cleaners.!! So for those who thought of buying this steam vac. DON'T!!

Hoover #F7431-900 review,
This review is from: Verilux CFML36BVLX Twilight Mini Ultra Replacement Bulb (Kitchen)
I've owned this carpet cleaner for about 1 year. Replaced the Clean Water/Detergent reservoir a few days ago ($75 for Maytag shop to replace the tank - "Needs new tank" - brush mechanism was not operating - mechanic was embarrassed when I pointed out that this was one of two problems requiring attention when I asked for an operation-check before I took the unit home - he fixed the brush-drive in about 2 hours at no charge to me). New $45 tank is leaking again on first use. Detergent tank is the leaker. After several attempts to figure out what is wrong, I applied petroleum jelly to the four vent-holes recess in the tank filler lid. Does not leak now. Problem is; how many of the four holes need to be sealed to stop the leak - sealing all four does, how about 3, or two, or one? ed

The Hoover F7431-900 SteamVac does a great job. I am most impressed with the amount of dirt that it picks up, and the fact that the carpet feels relatively dry after just a short period of time. Prior to using this, I had never used a steam cleaner myself, so I really don't have anything to compare it to. My only complaint is it is a bit tricky to get the water tank in place without leaking out a bit of solution. However, based on things my friends have told me about various steam cleaners they have used (either rented or purchased), I feel this steam cleaner is a decent cleaner and well worth the money.

Tanks for nothin'!,
By Polly Vernon (Lawrence, MA USA) - See all my reviews

I originally bought a Bissell cleaner. I brought it home and tried it and it left my carpet soaked. I returned it and got the Hoover. I can't complain about how well it cleans because I think it does a fine job - when it works! First, the tank leaked and I replaced it. Then it worked fine for a while. When I used it again several months later the detergent wasn't dispensing. I tried the troubleshooting methods listed in the manual which didn't help so I carted it off to an "authorized" repair shop 30 miles away. Long story short, they said I had to replace the tank support which they also told me wasn't sold separately so I would have to purchase a new tank. They marked up the price of the tank and wanted to charge me an additional $15 labor. So I ordered a new tank online to save $25 and that's all I got - a tank and no tank support. Seems they redesigned the tank and it doesn't include the tank support! I had to order that separately. So now I have my 3rd tank and tank support and when they go I'm tossing this shampooer. On the plus side, now that Maytag has bought Hoover, the Maytag repairman will have plenty to do!
