this is a nice lamp, but there was no indication when I bought it that it takes a custom bulb, it's just like the energy saver bulbs that can be purchased at most stores, but this one clips in rather than screw in, they must be ordered from Verilux, and they cost $15.00 each. Had this fact been revealed in the lamps specs or photos I would have chosen a different lamp, but there was no mention of it, nor can you tell from any of the photos.

This lamp is very good for reading which is what I use it for. It arrived propmtly but the lampshade was found to be damaged upon opening. Some of the creases have worked themselves out but beware that this shade is special and cannot be found at stores. I'm still thinking of returning it.

I was delighted to see a full spectrum light that is actually attractive- it fits in nicely on my desk in the office. The light reduces strain on my eyes and is enjoyable when I am inside all day and can't get to real daylight.
