Unique Clock Makes a Statement,
This review is from: Verina Hand Forged Metal Tabletop Clock (Kitchen)
I was very impressed by the quality of this clock. It's very solidly constructed. The feet add a nice detail and appear to be made of metal that looks like brass. The clock does seem large for a table clock but that's just my opinion. I would definitely recommend this clock to anyone.

Ignore everything about the photo and description on this page. If this product was ever sold to that description it no longer is.
The body itself is cast metal and it does have the crackle finish, but that's where the similarity between the retail product and the photo end. The face is not "antique ivory" the clock I received was just a polished brass face which was completely blank except for the four main digits - none of which are metallic pieces fixed to the face, they are just crudely painted on. The distressed and faded numerals you can see in the photo are completely absent. The feet are not individual pieces, they are part of the body and just quickly brushed with metallic gold paint. The clock hands appear to be plastic, as is the clock mechanism. The Jamil uses a generic quartz mechanism that's just glued into the case. You can find the same mechanism in budget clocks at Walmart. The rear door is polished brass but is poorly attached by screws so that it does not line up with the pin latch. The pin itself appears to be a tiny hex key that's too thin and that means the door rattles and swings when you move the item. For this price you would expect at least some attention to detail, but the Jamil has none. Unless you are happy to pay this price for just a large block of brown, crackled metal, do not buy. Sadly you will find a better assembled clock at any major store for a third of the price. |
