Solid replacement phone,
By
This review is from: Verizon Wireless Blitz Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
So we got on a 2 year contract, and I got the Blackberry 8130. Three weeks later, it gets washed in the washing machine. Friend gives me his Treo, which then stops working, and I'm out of a phone.
Head up to the Verizon store and they tell me that because I'm not due for a phone upgrade, the cheapest phone they could replace it with would be a no camera, no bluetooth, bare bones phone.. however let me tell you, it wasn't cheap. Walking out disappointed, I look over at Target. Go in, buy the prepay-version Blitz for way less money, call them to do an ESN swap, *228, and presto: a fully-featured, awesome cell phone working fluidly with my contract. I've owned a lot of smartphones in my day. Blackberry is usually my phone of choice, but I've had other various Windows Mobile and Palm devices. The Blitz has a refreshing and modern user interface, navigates seamlessly, and does not slow down or bug up. Call quality is solid, texting is great with the fully qwerty keyboard, and the added tools (calendar, most notably) have been really helpful for a guy used to more spendy phones! Navigating around the mobile web has been the least impressive element of the Blitz, primarily because I'm used to 3G phones and browsers that render webpages better. However, Verizon charges half the cost for unlimited data on the Blitz vs the Blackberry, so the decrease there is made up for economically. Other reviewers have complained about accidentally pushing buttons that lead them to data charges. I feel it important to note that all of the shortcut buttons are programmable. A few of the directional buttons lead to mobile web if touched because they are programmed this way by default. This can be easily changed in Settings. That said, this phone is best coupled with a data plan, anyway. There are too many cool features that would be going to waste without it! I am very happy with my Blitz.

dont know why everyone else is having issues!,
This review is from: Verizon Wireless Blitz Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I have owned this phone for a few months now. I don't have issues that the other posters are complaining off for example. Having to turn the sound down to alarm only? You do not have to do this. I use the alarm all the time with all other sounds turned on....how am I supposed to know when someone is calling me if I turn them off.
When the phone is in the closed position the keypad is locked you must push ok to unlock it. Dont carry the phone in your pocket and you wont have issues. The pics are not great hey its only 1.3 megs. Yes people your are talking too can sound bad turn off the privacy setting and they will sound better. Yes the keys are small but my 6'5 hubby whos paws are huge has no problems once he got used to the phone. Patience people...play with your phones learn how to use them.

Great Phone,
This review is from: Verizon Wireless Blitz Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
This phone is great. It has a great keyboard (for those to whom this is important). The camera (again for those who care) is superb. The battery lasts forever and the phone is tough. It is not a camera nor is it a computer so anyone down-rating this phone because it doesn't reach their typing or photography desires is buying the wrong tools. This phone does everything it does, as well as any phone on the market plus it looks great and has a small footprint.

Doesn't Lock Well, but GREAT battery,

Ok. So i've had this phone for about 2 years now. My only complaint is that the screen locks, but to unlock it...you hit the big "ok" button on the outside of the phone. This of course leads to strange things happening when your phone is in a pocket. I've had the phone put itself on the internet for hours without my knowing.
On the other hand, the keyboard is great, I love the size, it's very sturdy. The best part is the battery. When I first got the phone, my battery lasted for almost 2 weeks at a time. It's 2 years later and I still get 3 solid days (or more depending on usage). If you want a phone with long-lasting battery, get this one.

Long lasting,
This review is from: Verizon Wireless Blitz Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I've had this phone for almost 3 years now and there isn't anything truly wrong with it. I thought that it has treated me well and I still don't want to get a new phone, and I bet it'd last another year or two at least. After about a year and a half, since I had dropped my phone a few times, now it'll turn itself off and on again if I drop it on it's face. However, I feel that this is normal for an older phone. Another problem is that when I have my phone on no sounds or alarm only, my volumes are still high. I think that it is only a glitch for my phone, though, because I'd never heard anyone's else's phone do this.
I don't use the internet or navigator, but I'm sure those would work fine. The only disadvantage I have with it is the camera, but I have learned to watch out for what mega-pixel's are and won't make the same mistake again. But if you're looking for a simple phone, this one will last you for years.

Solid, reliable phone,

I got this phone because my previous phone had died and Verizon was phasing it out - they didn't even carry replacement batteries for it any more. The Blitz is a great phone if you are simply looking to make calls and text. It survived my first year of college with no incidents, save for a small scratch on the bottom where it fell out of my pocket while I was biking. And yes, if you don't reset the shortcuts on the center rocker, it will try to connect to the internet and do all sorts of strange and unwanted things, but resetting the shortcuts is easy enough.

Very Reliable Phone,
This review is from: Verizon Wireless Blitz Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I have had my Blitz for an entire year. I have had NO trouble whatsoever with it. It has survived my first year of college and been dropped onto concrete too many times to count. I have literally dropped this phone eight feet onto the ground and it still works without any problems. Maybe it's just a miracle. I love the keyboard and the shape, and I really don't have any complaints. I've depended on this phone to be my alarm, flash light, and communication device. I highly recommend this phone.

Not a smart phone, more of a phone with a GED,

This review is from: Verizon Wireless Blitz Phone, Blue (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
As a more "mature" phone user, I wanted a phone that would allow me to do some texting with my daughter, but wasn't interested in a full-blown smart phone. And aside from two fairly significant flaws, the Blitz does a nice job. Call quality is good using phone mode, but the speaker is tinny and cheesy. Not nearly as good as speakers in a regular LG phone. The camera is also not ideal. Bright, sunny areas get blown out and what you see on screen is not the image you get. No video either. But the little mini-keyboard is cool and very manageable, even for someone with larger thumbs. Has a very cool, easy to use stopwatch which happens to come in handy in my line of work. Accepts MP3 ring tones and easy to program. Battery life and talk time are excellent. Not a bad choice if you want a keyboard to do some texting and good sound quality from phone or wired headset.

Clean image on the screen, loud speaker for alerts. Not much good for a phone.. to be used a phone. Made every phone call sound as if speaking from a well.
