This has caused a significant inconvenience.

Secondly, a purchaser needs to call Verizon to register the unit to an account providing them with the MAC ID # on the unit, or it will not work.
Bob
Certainly not the performance I was hoping for.

My Verizon/Samsung network extender came from eComElectronics.
Apparently "refurbished" means "used, with new shrink wrap".

After a 15 minutes or so, the GPS locks and the system LED
stops blinking red, and so all 4 LEDs are blue -- good to go?

But I get no additional bars on my phone. I tried it out
in my basement with the GPS antenna on the end of the extender
cable. The GPS locked fine, but I got 0 bars and could not
make a call.

I called Verizon, and gave them the MAC address on the bottom
of the unit. They said that they can not activate the
unit because it is already activated by a current customer.

Perhaps the unit is set to managed access mode by original owner
and that is preventing my phone from associating?
My impression from Samsung's user-manual was that even if
managed mode were activated, an un-managed phone should still
be able to get in, but perhaps not...

I agree with the previous poster that the unit seems to
run quite warm. An A/C watt-meter tells me it draws 11 watts.

As there appears to be no way to reset the unit or otherwise
administer it locally, I must return it.

Don't buy this if you are a pre pay customer! Verizon says this extender is only for contract phones. It sure didn't work for me.

We live in the mountains and had basically NO CELL SERVICE. This amazing device gives us full bars not only inside the cabin but throughout the whole acre+ property. I am astounded at how well it works (provided you have internet service). Very easy to set up and so far, works great.

My room is a Verizon dead zone, 0 bars all day long, unable to make any calls, and it drains my battery within several hours. However, I plugged this unit in and within 10 minutes I go straight to full bars. It is absolutely AMAZING. Check out the con though.

Pro: Works perfectly and easy to setup.

Con:
- No instruction manual (just google it).
- Only 90-day warranty.
- The unit seems to run really hot.
- I called Verizon in order to activate the unit. You are supposed to give the MAC address of the device to Verizon so they can attach it to your account (so you can manage the authorized users via verizonwireless.com). Turns out this unit, it is a refurb afterall, was registered to another person's active Verizon account. The rep can't switch over who it is activated to without the other account holder's approval. I contacted the vendor via email today and we'll see how the resolution is.

Conclusion: Just happy that I finally have reception in my room.

Not much to write here, other than that the product wouldn't power up when plugged in. Ruled out other possible causes and am now returning it.

I bought mine new less than a year ago. It will be fine for awhile then drop GPS lock and the connection to Verizon. Sometimes for days, then it will mysteriously come back on. Last week, the power went out in the house briefly, and now it won't connect to Verizon or GPS. Called Verizon and they said a power outage can damage the GPS antenna. Mine is plugged into a surge protector but doesn't seem to matter. Fortunately I got an iPhone in the meantime and it works through my wifi, but I have had dropped calls even on that. It's an expensive piece of equipment that seems to break easily and can't reliably do what I need it to do. When it works, it's great. But I am not impressed.

This item is difficult to install effectively without an owner's manual. Blogs online and telephone support from Verizon were not sufficient.
