Book Description

April 18, 2003
Back by popular demand, this VP classic has been reprinted in a new format. The articles in this book feature several in-progress photos showing the scratchbuilding ingenuity of the master himself, Francois Verlinden. Built in the days before the days of fancy resin & photo-etched aftermarket products, this book offers a unique insight into the real work involved in the creation of model masterpieces. See how to detail a 1/48th scale F-16A and F-4EJ, and take a look at a fully detailed 1/16th scale F-16 cockpit. Several classic dioramas & vignettes are featured: On the double!, a Desert Rats barracks, Brief Encounter displays the Tamiya M1 Abrams passing the massive Sgt. York AA gun system, Paradise by the Desert side also describes the Sgt. York in detail, Chariot of Fire displays the Israeli Merkava tank from Tamiya, Breach to Victory with a Tamiya M5 Stuart passing through the dragons teeth of the Siegfried line, Commander’s Delight in the Italeri M109 SP howitzer, and Knocked Out! with a mean Mini in the repair shop in 1/24th scale. A special article features Heavy Weight Centipede, a Belgian Army DAF heavy tank transporter converted by Eddy Janssens. German military vignettes include The Ignorant D-Day minus one, with some Germans relaxing at a Tobruk pit, and Temporary Residence is a shadowbox with German soldiers at rest. This classic book promises to continue the VP tradition of inspiration to all modelers, as well as military enthusiasts & historians around the world.

This review is from: The Verlinden Way Volume IV (Paperback)
Verlinden was among the first of the people who took model building to a whole new level making an art form. ANY book that shows his insights and his how tos is worth the price of admission! This isn't an easy to find book and seldom do you find it at a discounted price, if you find it at all. A most worth buy, especially if are are an up and coming model builder.
