Not finding recent reviews helpful myself on appliances, I decided to wait at least a year (2.4 years to be exact)before reviewing this washer and dryer set. After MUCH research online and thinking that I deserved to pay the extra to get the red, I ordered this machine, not knowing at the time that it was the number one rated front-loading washing machine by Consumer Reports. I have found it to be quite the machine. If you have a top loader like I used to, a Maytag even that died after only 12 years, then be SURE to put a "clean" towel into this washer, using NO soap and see how much soap this machine will get out of your "clean" towel! Totally amazing, that's for sure! And, if you have young children that are into character bedding then you know that most of them are made in Pakistan of so-so quality cotton, stiff and itchy no matter how many times you wash them. Well, toss them into one of these machines and voila! No more itchy, scratchy kids sheets! The best part of this machine is how soft that it makes all your clothes and towels. The next best thing is how much energy, water, and laundry soap you save. I do a ton of laundry and the water alone saved is unbelievable. This guy paid for itself very quickly just because of the water alone. And, it only uses $11 a year in energy, averaging 6 loads a week. Certainly a "green" machine there!

The only thing that you'll have to make sure about before you buy any front-loader is that you have level floors. We had a new house but the floors in my laundry room were not level so I had a terrific time keeping the thing from not vibrating all over the place. Once we moved, I now have a level floor and it doesn't ever vibrate anymore. Not even with rugs and heavier loads. At least that doesn't happen anymore!

Get this washer if you want to get to know the GE repair guys by name. We are becoming good buddies. We have had this washer less than 4 years and have had to have it repaired 2 times in the past 3 months and 4 times throughout the life of the washer. Parts alone for the most recent repair cost over $500 and lucky us- the warranty doesn't cover anything over a year. SO we get to spend more money on a washer that will probably break down again. Other than that, the washer has been good. Just a warning to top load washer users- a normal wash cycle on this takes over an hour and if you are doing the sanitize mode- it takes over 2 hours. THe repair guy did tell me that this is one of the "better" GE products so I wouldn't buy GE products in the future.
