A good tap made with quality steel. Don't forget to get a 21/32" drill bit to go with it. Not a standard size in most drill indexes. Starting with the correct size drill is manditory.
Polish on tap is very good. With careful and proper use, I expect it to last.

I used this to tap a custom wooden live center for my Jet 1642 lathe. It's just the right thread size for the threads on the stock live center, once you remove the cone. So I made something out of maple, drilled a 5/8" hole in it, and tapped it with this. Then I poured in a bit of thin CA glue to strengthen the wooden threads and screwed the tap in one more time to cut the threads perfectly. Now I have a wooden live center to hold the back of bowls without piercing them. This tap was indispensable for that.

Had a project where standard threads needed to cut inside iron pipe. A couple of extra clamps and some cutting oil made clean threads.

Did exactly what it was supposed to do. Used it to clean up the threads on 40 year old threaded holes on my Case 450 bulldozer.
