About the Author
Stacey McCarroll Cutshaw was Director & Curator of the Boston University Art Gallery from 2002 to 2007, where she co-curated, with Ross Barrett, In the Vernacular: Everyday Photographs from the Rodger Kingston Collection
and organized the accompanying two-day academic conference "Vernacular Reframed." She has published book reviews in Afterimage
and Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society,
as well as short essays and catalog entries in The Chronicle Review
and The Encyclopedia of Twentieth Century Photography.
Ross Barrett is a Ph.D. candidate in art history at Boston University, specializing in American art, architecture, and visual culture of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He is the 2006-2008 Wyeth Fellow in American Art at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA), and has previously held fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies and the American Antiquarian Society.
