BIG Disappointment,
By Marlow "Marlow" (New York) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Veronese: Gods, Heroes, and Allegories (Hardcover)
This book is a tremendous disappointment. The Veronese works featured in this book are based on a Musee de Luxembourg exhibition. The paintings featured in the exhibition were secondary works that do not reflect the great artist's mastery of color and form. Many of the works featured in the show demonstrate Veronese's debt to Titian, Tintoretto and Parmigianino, but reflect little of the artist's innate brilliance. The text accompanying the artworks provides little insight into the works' creation or provenance. Unless the purchaser is an ardent devotee of Veronese or an art historian, I strongly advise against purchasing this work.

This art book of Veronese is very beautiful, and the price is reasonble. I enjoy many pictures with intelligible description of his life and work.
