Bought it to patch a pipe break temporarily, until we could get the car into the shop for an exhaust system replacement (big bucks). The tape is of good quality, and it sticks to anything. It is fairly easy to handle. The only warning I give is that is does not hold up at all under conditions of vibration. If you are going to cover a hole in a muffler or catalytic converter, this stuff will probably work out well for you. I used it to wrap around a severed pipe (inlet to the converter). On the first day after application, the tape sheared due to vibration. Not really a problem with the tape; it just wasn't designed to withstand vibration. So, keep that in mind.

I'm buying this product for the second time because it works and is easy to apply. This exhaust repair tape, unlike so many other types of exhaust system repair tape, has an adhesive backing, allowing you to apply the tape and mold it onto the pipe or muffler and seal the leak. The tape is very thin aluminum, and if you overlap it enough will take care of small exhaust leaks effectively. It will not repair a major pipe rust-out or anything, but it is versatile and will take care of small non-manifold leaks. My only complaint is that the aluminum is a little TOO thin, and it will break sometimes during application. Not a big deal, but a gauge higher thickness would be worth paying a little extra for.
I used this tape to cover a small exhaust leak on my flex pipe, which I intended to replace but now, I don't think I'll need to do that. I am buying more tape to finish off the rest of the flex pipe because what I did has held up so well. Compared to other exhaust tapes I've used this one is no-brainer easy to use. I've bought tapes that are not adhesive, flimsy plastic that wrap loosely and don't fix anything, or are fiberglass and you have to insert the tape into a resin pouch for five minutes and wrap it loosely around your problem area and then wrap a wire around that goopy mess. And you need to wear gloves because the resin will burn your skin, and avoid sparks and use the product in a well-ventilated area because the resin is explosive...and after all that it doesn't work at all. If you have a small exhaust leak anywhere in the exhaust system that is a pipe or muffler or catalytic converter, use this product. Just buy a few extra (it's inexpensive) to make sure you cover the leak well enough. Also, when you are applying, don't remove all the wax-paper backing before you apply.

when I bought my truck (new) I told the dealer I wanted a Magnaflow, cats back exhaust installed and I specified STAINLESS. What I got was a magnaflow muffler and tip but a standard aluminized pipe between the two. Lesson learned. Should have jobbed it out myself. At any rate, last weekend the pipe rusted through at the muffler and at the nearest hanger. Not having the time or the money for a proper repair I went off in search of a temporary alternative.

I remembered my father using a product similar to this back in the day to do the same thing I wanted to do. While this product didn't seem to be of the same caliber as the one my dad used (but then again, what is? lol), I bought plenty (5 rolls - figured whatever I had left I could either save, pass on, or use for something else) thinking better to have extra than not enough. Turned out it was a good call.

As some have said, while it has an adhesive backing, it's not a wonder product. It's not like welding in a tape roll. I first tried patching the hole at the hanger with a few pieces roughly 25% bigger than the hole itself. As others have said, about 30 minutes after running my truck (ran to the store) I looked under it to see if my handywork had survived and sure enough, the patch had come loose. Easy to fix, I just wrapped the tape clean around the entire circumference of the pipe at the hole. After a week it's still doing wonderfully.

Where the pipe rusted through at the muffler proved to be more challenging. That took about 3 rolls of this tape but after taping ~ 3" on either side of the break the pipe is still in place and working well. I've had no exhaust smell - at least nothing I've noticed.

Bought it from auto zone and wrapped it around a leak on a pipe. I took it for a test drive it worked for the first few minutes then my exhausted sounded like it did before. Drove home and it was gone and a complete waste of money

If you want to waste your time and money, buy this junk. This lasted 1/2 hour and then started to stink like hot melt glue before it fell apart. I even had it clamped down with this same companies muffler clamp.
